Greatoneshere
I find this to be very interesting news. You can't really . . . replace Sofia Coppola (who was awful, somewhat not her fault for having to replace Winona Ryder last minute), and the movie isn't bad, but it could certainly be made better too. I'm very curious. The title for the re-edit is unwiedly (Mario Puzo's The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone), but this seemed like big news. It should be noted Coppola always originally wanted to call this film The Death of Michael Corleone instead of The Godfather Part III (Part III makes more sense to me). https://www.slashfilm.com/godfather-iii-reedit/
Bloodporne
I'd give it another shot. I never hated it but definitely thought it was unintentionally funny.

Talia Shire always stood out to me as 'why the hell is she in ANY of this' haha... Then I found out later she's Coppola's sister. Mystery solved!

Brick
I misread the title as Godfather 2, and was like, why? I never actually saw III. I guess I should.
TwinIon
Last time I watched the trilogy my impression was that it was a fine movie that has the unfortunate distinction of being a sequel to two outstanding films. I'd be surprised if it's possible to edit your way out of that conclusion.

I always thought it was a fine endingn to the trilogy but it REQUIRES watching the other two movies in order to be appreciated fully. The first two movie are masterpieces on their own and don't require seeing anything else. Godfather 3 NEEDS the other two films in order for it's greatness to be fully realized. Otherwise it's just a decent gangster flick.

I actually prefer Apocalypse Now Redux (which I know is heresy) more than the original because it becomes, I think, a more complete, complex, and meditative film than the more straightforward 2/3's of the original film. The transition into the surreal last act is smoother, plus, I always love more footage explaining more things (but that's just me). So who knows. Mercury33
I’m down. I’ve only seen III once so it’ll feel pretty fresh. And like others. I remember watching it and thinking it wasn’t as bad as everyone says.

I kind of powered through it for the story but I'd actually really like giving it another shot with this re-edit the more we talk about it here. I've seen it quite a few times and it really is a decent movie. It doesn't have the same classic cinematic look of the previous two films because it was shot in the 80's and I believe it was set in the 70's but if you marathon all three films, you'll see how well it wraps the whole saga up making the Godfather Trilogy one of the few films that has Three good to great films in the saga. Dre801
I didn't hate Part III, but it was clearly the weakest. It's crazy that he and Puzo had been writing a script for a Part IV.

TheLeon
Here’s my confession: I’ve owned the trilogy on Blu Ray for years, and I’ve only seen the first one.
Dre801
You need to at least watch the second.
