That reason is that the power elite in the US think about and see the world in a framework that the NYT so consistently expresses. The NYT being center-right is just a reflection of the ruling class in the US. They're centre-left. If they were on the right, they may have endorsed at least one Republican presidential candidate since Eisenhower.

stepee
I think the problem is it’s really hard to determine what the center point is between the already center left at best establishment democrats and the absolutely looney tunes fantasy land make believe fun house far right fuck fest that is the modern republican party. You're right. An editorial board that picks a Democrat for President 16 times in a row means their political expression is right-of-centre. That, and every study that looks at media bias puts them on the left as well.
CayceG
This is not the work of a left wing newspaper. Also, lol that ratio of engagement/views.

stepee
The debate should either be about wether they lean towards a particular political party or if the lean towards a particular ideology. You can’t debate both at the same time or it’s just arguing over labels.

You are right that political ideologies are somewhat different than whether a newspaper leans left or right. And they don't always mean the same thing. By the way, we should probably clarify where (if at all) we disagree. What "clear link to R*ssia" do you see between them and Donald Trump (and not, for example, the grifters that attached themselves to him for personal enrichment)? And what exactly is your gripe with the NYT quoting the FBI in that 2016 article you linked to? I mean we both are at least on the same page regarding the original fairy tale of "Trump himself is a R*ssian asset, bought and paid for by Putin, and basically acted as his puppet in the White House" being complete fiction, right? b_m_b_m_b_m
The clear links were Rodger stone and Paul manafort. (this bit wasn’t a joke despite the revisionism from the trump camp) and even if stone didn’t have direct coordination with Russia directly, everyone on the campaign knew Russia was behind the hacking (while publicly undermining the intel that said they were) and believed that Stone had an in with Wikileaks and Stone regularly had direct contact with manafort and trump hope this helps 1

But the idea that he colluded with Russia has been completely debunked, and still they spout nonsense (without evidence) when it's brought up. Then, they pretend Russia hacking the DNC is somehow on Trump.

stepee
The idea is you misrepresent all the issues with trump and russia as something that you saw someone say once on twitter and then you can ignore all the actual stuff. It’s just funny because without even going into everything his own son admitted he colluded with russian officials and then you have to buy some story that Don Jr would ever tell his daddy about such a thing. You have to buy soooo much nonsense to get “nothing burger” out of it and need to picture trump as this perfect angel who somehow has literally every person in their circle doing crimes but he is just oblivious.
