  1. Wow! How did that happen? And what made you get one now (7+ years after it has been out)? ....not that I can talk, I'm the guy that still doesn't own a PS4 or XB1. In any case, as you can tell from this thread, you can pretty much pick up any first-party game from Nintendo and have something great to play. Sometimes people buy Nintendo hardware to be able to play Nintendo's software, almost exclusively. Which is....fine. I guess? I mean, it is. Nintendo makes a lot of great stuff that will appeal to many people. But like? Man...you'd be missing out on a LOT if you ignore third party stuff. Anyway, here are some of my recommendations, based off of your posted interests of action/adventure and platformers. I'm purposely not mentioning first party stuff, since you can grab any Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Kirby, Fire Emblem, WarioWare, etc. game with little to no worries. Though I will put a spotlight on one in particular: Kid Icarus Uprising. It's got a unique control scheme that I won't lie about: it takes a little bit to get used to. But once you get over that (small, IMO) hurdle? Oh man. That game is amazing, packed to the gills with content, and goes in a direction NO ONE saw coming. Awesome, awesome game. One of my favorites of the past/current generation. Highly recommended. Without further ado, my suggestions: Shinobi Monster Hunter 4 ULTIMATE Final Fantasy Explorers Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance Sonic Generations (this version is unique to the 3DS) Also, some of the download-only games are worth a look, and I can put out some recommendations for those if you like. I want to point out a couple of unique NES games that are downloadable, too. Namely, these: Summer Carnival '92 RECCA - a tough-as-nails 2D SHMUP that was previously only released in Japan. The only (uh, legal) way to own it here in the West is the 3DS version. The Mysterious Murasame Castle - a top-down action game from Nintendo themselves. It's built off of the original Legend of Zelda engine (so I've been told, anyway), so it *kinda* plays like that. But it is its own unique game. Again, it was another Japan-only game that was only recently localized for the West, and again, ONLY available on 3DS Virtual Console. Check 'em both out.
  2. Probably because MARVEL is really popular right now. And likely due to the fact that the “MCU-only” characters are finally teaming up with the X-MEN again. It’s not the movie version we want, but this’ll do. Plus, I think the first two Ultimate Alliance games were well-received, so fans are hyped for the third entry just on principle. Agreed about the trailer, though. For something as “epic” as this premise would imply, the reveal was kinda...tame.
  3. I might bite on that Switch + Mario Kart 8 DX deal. Just so I have two machines in the house and my kids stop fighting over who gets to play it.
  4. Dat PS4! I don’t know how it does it, but it just keeps on doesing it! Oh, for sure. Dead as a door nail.
  5. I’ll throw a shout out to Fire Emblem Warriors, which is already out now. Pretty good game for a mindless hack and slash. And also ULTRA Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers and Monster Hunter Generations ULTIMATE. And we'd be remiss if we didn't mention Xenoblade Chronicles 2! Also, in addition to the games already mentioned, keep an eye out for “Dragon Marked For Death” which is due out in December, and Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes which is also due out soon. And of course, Pokémon: Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee is coming next month (with integration with Pokémon GO on phones/mobile devices!). Kinda. There are a bunch of downloadable older games, like SNK’s “ACA” series (Metal Slug, King of Fighters, Puzzle Bobble, etc) Some of Nintendo’s old arcade games are on there too. (Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros, Punch-Out!!, etc) Plus various collections, like Mega Man Legacy Collection and the like. In ADDITION to that, when you sign up for Nintendo’s online service ($20 a year) you also get access to various NES games (a little over 20 at this point) that play like the old days...with the added benefit of being able to play multiplayer online in them! Kind of a neat touch. Anyway, hope that helps!
  6. I have no idea what is going on in this thread. But congrats! I think!
  7. @chakoo Thanks for the heads up! I ordered Jake Hunter off Amazon just now.
  8. That was pretty great. Loved the music and attention to detail in that game. Though I’m reminded I still need to go back and finish Metroid Prime: Federation Force. It’s a better game than people give it credit for.
  9. Same. I’m pretty much equal for both tones/themes/genres. To point, the two games I’m playing at the moment are Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, and the other is Pokémon Ultra Sun. It doesn’t get much more “opposite tones” than these two!
  10. I picked up the Switch version, pretty much only for the Starfox stuff. Haven't started it yet, my backlog is ridonk.
  11. Word. And yeah, with even more games (somehow) still coming out well into 2019, my 3DS backlog isn't about to slow down anytime soon either. At least the release dates are now more of a "trickle" than a full "firehose spray" schedule. It's a bit more manageable. Do we have any idea when Jake Hunter comes out?
  12. Got Luigi’s Mansion (and The World Ends With You: Final Remix) the other day. Seems like I’m in a “remake” mood lately! I also have been putting more time into Ultra Sun. Still haven’t finished it...!
  13. Oh snap, forgot that was coming out so soon! Will be picking up for sure!
  14. More Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water. Then some Pokémon Ultra Sun to calm the nerves, LOL.
  15. I’ve looked into the Nighthawk...and word on the Linksys WRT3200? I’ve been told that model is solid as well.
  16. Much appreciated! I assume a NetGear modem would work well with the Nighthawk, too? I’m off to do some shopping!
  17. My old NetGear hardware is starting to show its age and I have to regularly "bump" it in order to connect online lately. I was going to simply replace them (modem and router) with more current NetGear stuff, but...is there a better option? Specifically for gaming - there is a lot of Fortnite being played at my house, LOL.
