  1. I'm still waiting for gen 4 drives to show a meaningful real world improvement in gaming over gen 3 drives, let alone being worried that I need a gen 5 drive ATM. That said, I'm leaving my 5.0 PCIe m.2 slot open in eager anticipation that it may be useful for something.
  2. If you are OK with extremely low def textures and low poly models, and the occasional hitching while waiting for something to load [including lots of texture/environment pop-in]- it's perfectly doable.
  3. The internet is going crazy over the fact that Sony "lied" about the PS5 SSD making this game possible because of these specs. Perhaps we should see how this game plays/looks on "low" settings before people get too excited?
  4. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart | PC | CDKeys WWW.CDKEYS.COM Buy Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart PC ✔️ CD Key ✔️ Instant download ✔️ Fantastic price ✔️ Digital Download ✔️ Presently 32% off retail (GMG and Fanatical are at full retail ATM).
  5. 2230 drives are so niche, that deals are not going to be very common.
  6. Asus Confirms ROG Ally SD Has Card Reader Issues T.CO An update for the handheld gaming PC will be released soon.
  7. It depends on the coffee drinking habits in your household. My wife was getting 3-4 Starbucks drinks a week. I bought a refurbished machine 7 years ago (and it's only needed minor servicing). It's paid for itself several times over.
  8. I think that is the case with higher end GPUs, but not necessarily lower end GPUs. The lack of VRAM on cheaper GPUs (below 12 GB) could become a huge issue in longevity. DLSS is fantastic, and I think is being overlooked by many YouTubers, but I'm not convinced it is a panacea for underpowered GPUs -- I know it can turn OK into Good -- I'm dubious about whether it can turn "not good" into "good". Frame generation hasn't shown to work particularly well at mid-low framerates, and upscaling doesn't work particularly well at lower resolutions.
  9. You don't need a game to be particularly good to be a filler on a subscription service. It just needs to be cheap to make, and "OK".
  10. It was missing a "none of the above" option. That said, these kind of games are the perfect filler for a subscription based service. Relatively cheap to make.
  11. I think we’re a long way from PCIe5.0 drives making sense. They’re expensive, produce a lot of heat and offer no real world benefits.
  12. That deal on the SN850X was just too good to pass up. Just bought a 4TB.
  13. A 4070 is also substantially more powerful than a SeX.
  14. It's a sale. I saved over $300 on an item that never goes on sale, and I was going to buy anyways.
  15. Ordered the smart shower valve for the master bathroom reno we're doing this fall. Ordered Roblox gift card for my daughter. Fire TV cube to replace the first gen one I've been running on my ancient Plasma. Thinking of getting a couple of Echo Studio speakers to replace the Echo that my cats destroyed when they were kittens (by eating through the power cords). Does anyone have experience with them?
  16. I thought the joke about Hooter's was always that they actually did have really good wings.
  17. It's harder than you think to get burn in. Playing games on it "normally" isn't a problem.
  18. I had stopped playing Hogwart's Legacy to play Aliens: Dark Descent. However, A:DD is much more of a stressful stealth game than I thought it would be. I've decided that the rest of my life is stressful enough, and that I want to game to relax. So, I 'm back to being a wizard that runs around doing stupid errands -- and fucking up evil wizards -- and I'm so much happier.
  19. Based on what I have played. AC: Syndicate was the best of the old-style AC games. If you like those, this was probably the best example of that. The AC:Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla are all a trilogy set in different settings (Ancient Greece, Ptolemaic Egypt and the Viking invasion of England), and had increasingly improved mechanics. They ARE very similar in mechanics, so would be hard to play back-to-back. They are also VERY long (in the order of 120-150 hours each). I loved them A solid game. Yes, the Ray Tracing and HDR are awesome. Worth prioritizing based on this list? I don't think so. Meh. It was OK. IMHO, the forced changes between characters and fight styles really let it down. Old school shooters revitalized. They are nothing like most modern shooters, in that you need to be aggressive, and keep moving. Shouldn't be missed. Best open world shooter I have ever played. FC5 had some interesting mechanics, but stepped back in some ways. FC4 was just a blast to play. Both are excellent. Both are very different games, and both are excellent. Great game mechanics, not enough of a game. Too repetitive and gets boring. I stopped playing midway through because of the terrible controls. If you've never played this trilogy, stop what you are doing and play this now. Both very good games, but no where near as good as much of the best stuff on your list. Niche. I enjoyed it, but hard to recommend without the multiplayer. Good, solid open world games that are marred by "edgy" writing. Some interesting ideas that don't always hit. Right after you play the Mass Effect Trilogy, play this. Interesting characters, tremendous writing, tough decisions. One of the best open-world games ever made. I found the combat REALLY easy. I ended up deciding to play the full trilogy back-to-back. The first game is VERY dated, but short. The second game is still playable. The third is a masterpiece. You CAN play the third without touching the first two, and you probably won't feel you missed anything. But... I found my connection with the characters was so much stronger playing all three games in quick succession.
