Yeah I had more fun with it this time around. The level design to get to the boss was a little weird, none of the game until that point really necessitated exploring the “fringes” of the map like that. Just optional areas, which I suppose means this whole are qualifies I made the assumption that Iosefka or whoever was bad based on her talking shit for me coming to her clinic and her tone changing at some point. I sent some asshole secret beast that kicked the shit our of me 5 years ago to her clinic instead of the church, and ran into an alien there later, so fuck both of those people. Onto Brynwnentshitburg or whatever next which is where Rom is IIRC.

If the whole game is the ending, there shouldn’t be the option to pick a card, any card, regardless of your choices to that point, at the very end. I’d be interested to see how many people picked something that didn’t jive with how they’d played to that point.

@SaysWho? Turns out the area in Bloodborne I bounced off in 2016 was Cainhurst Castle. Looks like my old character was level 44 or something and my best weapon was +3. My new character is level 150something and my saw blade is +8, and who would have guessed that would make a difference? Though I guess this is an optional area, seeing as how it ended in a dead end? And those mosquito vampire things were still super annoying, I was glad the castle wasn’t full of them. IIRC the “last” boss I beat back then was Rom which I haven’t run into again at this point in my run, but I probably have enough momentum to finish this time around. I gotta go that before I play the DeS remake, since I know that running well will spoil me on going back to BB. Also I can never find someone that wants my co-op help but whenever I ask for it, I find someone immediately. Weird.

True, I’d just meant that if the world was at risk for being destroyed, seems unlikely that Chuck or Emma or everyone would miss that and sit it out. I mean if Mantis can TKO Thanos surely Chuck should be able to.

I’d pay for a comedy montage of Cap derping through time and space returning the infinity stones. How’s he even getting them out of the briefcase? Just whaling on them with mjolnir so he doesn’t touch them and die? What’s his chat with Red Skull like? He’s cool with injecting Natalie Portman with red goo? The reality for a lot of people in cults or people engaging with Q nonsense is that it’s generally pretty positive for most of them most of the time. Yes, someone’s getting the shit end of the stick at some point. But there’s a community, rituals, a shared language... there’s real culture there, even if it looks loony from the outside. Part of the reason those institutions persist is the perception that the “outside” doesn’t offer an equivalent and it’s frightening to get out.

I suppose in a post blip world... they’ve always just been there? Kinda weird for them to now show up at the fight in Endgame if that’s the case, but... there’s only so much time and energy to care about these things.

Yeah I feel the same way. More Alfred Molina is a good thing and it’s not like the MCU hasn’t been incorporated into and referenced the multiverse anyway... but I’m hoping that Spidey stuff is mostly cameos. I also hope they wipe the slate clean with the X-Men. The next phase is gonna be interesting... we’ve seen plenty of New York, Thor’s well known enough to be recognized on the street while not in costume... so it’s not like the Fantastic Four could easily have just been around the whole time and I don’t think they could get cute with them like they did with The Ancient One in Endgame. Same with the X-Men, none of the people Jasper Sitwell referenced as people of interest were mutants and it seems somewhat unlikely that Hydra just wouldn’t have noticed them. I suppose it’s easy enough to say that the Infinity Gauntlet getting snapped on earth twice activated the X gene as a side effect or Wanda could fart them out somehow... who knows. That would change the origin of some of them pretty dramatically but it’s not like the MCU has been opposed to that.

I like the X-Men plenty, I just think the MCU is just fine without them. In general I think a comics universe works better when there aren’t a handful of people walking around who could plug into Cerebro and shut down 99% of problems by literally thinking about it kinda hard, but... that toothpaste has been out of the tube for a while and it’s not like Doctor Strange couldn’t do the same, I suppose. Somewhat tangentially to that, i wonder how the MCU would handle Magneto. They’ve been generally unwilling to let super powerful baddies off the hook at the end of a movie. The X-Men letting Magneto live / Chuck’s enduring friendship with him is one of the more confusing things about Marvel comics, to me. EDIT - also, Deadpool potentially being the foot in the door for mutants to get into the MCU is just... eh. Again, I really enjoy Deadpool but 3 movies of Van Wilder’s Merc With a Mouth is an awful lot of that character and too much Ryan Reynolds.
