  1. Two things stick out. No strap that goes completely around your head? This looks like it'll suck for folks with glasses. Also, non-replaceable cable bit dangling off the back of the headset? Is this thing wired only? If it isn't, is leaving that dangling bit of cable on the back really the best way to do it?
  2. This game does an amazingly good job of pointing you in the right direction everytime you defeat a boss or gain a suit or weapon upgrade. The only times I've ever felt lost were in some of the EMMI rooms, but I figured that was sort of the point of them.
  3. Boston police arrested a Black man having a stroke. After $1.3 million payout, it's unclear if anything's changed WWW.WBUR.ORG The city of Boston agreed to pay a Boston driver $1.3 million after he pulled over to the side of the road after suffering a stroke and police arrested him instead of taking him immediately to the hospital. Guy has stroke in his car. When the police find him they claim to smell alcohol on him, so they lock him up for drunk driving. Only after a concussion and still throwing up all over the place five hours later does he get taken to the ER. Police ten the ER he's drunk, so they just leave him in the waiting room waiting for hours until family finds him demanding he not be tested as a drunk. No drugs. No alcohol. The delay in care is now leaving him with permanent damage. A year and $1.3m later, the cops that claim they smelled alcohol on a guy that's been dry for 30 years leading to the entire mess have yet to be disciplined. Cool.
  4. I'm on the final boss, who is really loving my ass, and I'll agree with you on an three points. This games most major weakness is lack of feedback when it comes to boss damage. There are some cases where I don't know if I'm even damaging someone, but I keep throwing missiles in their faces and they all eventually just die. The music is...fine? It's atmospheric and I do like it. I'm not sure I've ever really enjoyed Metroid music outside of Super Metroid and a few tunes from the Prime games. There's only one powerup that actually feels great when it comes to using it. The others are just kinda of eh when it comes how they feel, especially when armed with those powerups and running through previously explored areas. One other complaint I have is that the blaster feels pretty dinky, no matter how it gets upgraded. Like I know that there are enemies I can now take out with a single blast later in the game, but since they become fewer as you progress and bosses never really take damage from it, the power scaling of the blaster feels off. I'd have preferred it if missiles were an on/off switch like it was in Super Metroid and others. Better yet, I think a better control scheme would have been weapon switch on L, grapple on R, fire on Y and ZR and free aim automatically triggering on use of the right stick. That all being said, it hasn't stopped me from enjoying the hell out of this game. Enough so that I'm one bastard away from finishing the game so soon after launch.
  5. Oh man, I like that every book includes some pieces that are about guns rights, even the book about teaching kids that trans people are just deluded. There's also an anti-universal healthcare book. That's a pretty cool topic for a kids' book; and here I thought the book I bought my girls about loving their natural hair was wild.
  6. Yeah, that sounds about right for a condo association. I remember a similar thing happening at a condo I used to live in. The unit owners found their shoes in a bag next to the dumpster outside. As long as they aren't in anyone's way, who cares. I can't fathom how little people value their time when this is the kind of thing they waste it on.
  7. As I said in the other thread, none of that should even matter since he was a monster to the people he raped and enslaved. Even if you ignore that other Europeans thought he was a monster, I don't understand why the opinions of the enslaved shouldn't don't count. I mean, I do, because not white, but nobody is ever willing to voice why their feelings shouldn't count.
  8. It is WAY easier than past Metroid games. I was more thinking about how, in spite of that, it isn't as forgiving as say Hollow Knight.
  9. Unions should also be arguing for paid days off around vaccinations. I can easily see a scenario where someone can't afford to take a few days off because the vaccine put them in bed, and then the planning around getting two doses?
  10. Nope. This game has exchanged hard to find secrets for hard to get secrets. It's now stuff like gain booster speed through these doors while avoiding the enemies, press down to gather the boost energy while avoiding enemies, jump into the gap in the morphball, now blow up a couple of blocks, jump over a hole, and then shoot your way into the ceiling with the stored up boost energy from earlier...all while doing it fast enough to not lose your stored boost or accidently setting it off too early. The game also gives you a flat percentage of secrets per area, so I know I have 85% of secrets in this section versus 100% in this other. A lot of good QoL improvements without really holding your hand or making it any easier than pay Metroid games. I'll trade upgrades that test your skills over upgrades that waste your time while you bomb every corner of the map for hours any day of the week.
  11. No, this game makes it WAY easier to find items, though not necessarily to get them. Maps work differently in Dread than they did in previous games. When you download a map now instead of getting an actual map, you get more of a boundary of how large a section is. To actually fill out the map, you need to enter rooms. Once you've visited a room that piece of the map will blink indicating there's a secret somewhere within the blinking area. Right now, I know where the last 10-20% of the items in my game are. I not only know where they are, I can see them and know exactly what to do to get them. Actually pulling it off is for someone a bit more patient than me.
  12. Is anyone trying for 100% on this game. I've got at least 80% on every zone in the game. I'll probably skip the extra few upgrades I'm missing as they mostly seem to be really annoying speed booster puzzles.
  13. I've got some Taino blood in me. Family always taught us that Columbus was a monster. That, however, isn't really a lesson taught anymore since most of the family has moved onto the mainland and kids have gone to school up here. That said, at least at my son's school today is indigenous Peoples' Day. I'll take it
  14. I also love the implication that the only peoples whose opinions we should take into account are Europeans here, since nobody is arguing the enslaved enjoyed all the rape, pillaging, and murder.
  15. Yeah, that seems pretty reasonable. You just can't really plan for that. There's no way to know if the kid you're sitting next to in the bus is on the football team or the track team. Humans are what's spreading this disease. Maybe this week a church event winds up being a super spreader or maybe it's the bar mitzvah that leads to the next wave. Either way, something about human behavior and changes to their behavior are what slows things down and ramps things right back up. The point still remains. If everyone just masked up and got their damn vaccinations we wouldn't have to deal with explosions filling hospitals.
  16. Yeah, cutting the frame rate when it's already real time makes way less sense. At least when it's prerecorded it makes sense as a shave saving measure. At least it's not as drastic as Kena. In that game the cut scenes are down to 24fps.
  17. With Far Cry 6 that's probably a data saving choice. Most people aren't going to notice it's running at 30fps and it cuts your video size in half.
  18. I shouldn't be surprised, but I'm still thinking about the craziness of being an organ transplant while also refusing to get the COVID vaccine. Unvaccinated patients are getting kicked off organ transplant waitlists ARSTECHNICA.COM Transplant recipients must take immune-suppressing drugs, raising risk for COVID. Imagine being all "I trust my immune system" while also needing a new organ and having to take drugs to weaken your own immune system.
  19. Yes. Sort of. If you haven't played Other M; her ship's AI is named after an actual person that was a bit too bossy for a Metroid game.
  20. Hey now. I remember us talking about this possibility last year, but it was called impossible. What, aside from forcing out all the Republican that refused to bend the knee and looking to replace them with sycophants that openly admit it's the only reason they want these positions, makes you think this may actually happen the next time around?
  21. This is the kind of thing that keeps the US from joining in on the CRC. It's all by design.
