  1. I was just thinking of exactly that after watching the Direct. They've added pretty much everything I would have liked other than being able to build these shops, restaurants, and school on my own Island.
  2. And there's a the game. Finished with 80% in 10 hours. That was a great game and a pretty fun ending. The final boss was really kicking my ass for a while there, but once I got used to his timing it was pretty a breeze. I'm looking forward to where this is going next and, judging from the game's reception, maybe we don't have to wait another fifteen years.
  3. What I don't get is that if it absolutely requires a phone, why even include processing on it at all? Just make it a display with all the 6DoF sensors and leave the phone to doing all the processing. Anyone that can afford a $500 VR headset just to watch movies while there's a $300 VR headset that does that and more will very likely have a phone that can handle that sort of VR content. This thing doesn't even have a built in battery. It looks like you either need to buy a separate battery pack or have it leech power off your phone. This is a wildly confusing device.
  4. How's this for backward, twisted, true crime shit? Netflix has a true crime series called Don't Fuck With Cats about how a bunch of Internet people obsessed with true crime stories both help catch a killer while also causing him to escalate, in part, due to the attention he was getting from those same people.
  5. For me, they asked for my insurance card when I got my first dose, but then refused it when they saw they already had it on file. I got vaccinated at a center run by the hospital nearest home. It's dumb, it's SUPER inefficient, and it causes all kinds of confusion. Here's an example that anyone that's ever been really tight on money will understand. Sometimes, you go so some groceries and you know you have enough for everything in your basket and you just know you have enough cash to add like a frozen pizza, but you still leave it out of pure fear that you'll be short and rejected at the register. That's exactly the feeling uninsured have here. They know in their head that everyone says it's free, but they also know they're asking for insurance info. Maybe free here is free like how an ambulance will totally pick you up, no questions asked, but now you've got some stupid bill in the mail because you dared to pass out at work from a stroke. It doesn't help that all the local Republicans are saying vaccines are enriching big pharma. If it's enriching big pharma then you just know it's got to be on someone's dime and that someone is probably you. I blame all the mess here on Trump and Republicans following his lead, along with Biden for not getting on TV and promising that the vaccine isn't just free for everyone but that nobody will be asked for proof of insurance or will need insurance.
  6. Yeah, complaining about the EMMI is weird. Your first time through a room might very well kill you, but the punishment for death is back outside the room with all your health and ammo intact.
  7. Doesn't help that people get asked for their insurance info when they show up for a shot.
  8. Dread borrows heavily from Super, along other games in the franchise. It all feels very Metroid to me.
  9. Yeah, this is not a competitor for anything currently on the market. Vive Flow is HTC’s newest “all-in-one” VR headset, coming October 15 for $499 ARSTECHNICA.COM An Android phone is required—because it's the controller. There's no way to connect this to a computer for wired or wireless PC gaming and it sounds like the gaming options on the headset, itself, are pretty limited. This really sounds like it's mostly designed for chat and watching movies.
  10. They absolutely did that, but that seemed like a reaction to their first viewer count scamming. As far as I can tell they currently count a view as anyone that watches 3 seconds of video with or without audio, whether it was an auto play or an actual click. This is compared to YouTube where a view is an actual click followed by 30 seconds.
  11. I think I mentioned here before, but I remember how much suspicion I threw at Facebook over their numbers when I started posting clips and live streams for my local church's Facebook page. The numbers made no sense and it was impossible to explain why they were nonsense to church leaders who thought their online presence was growing exponentially. Best I could figure was that Facebook was counting the rendering of the video player window, even if the player was off screen or not even actually playing video as a "view".
  12. Two things stick out. No strap that goes completely around your head? This looks like it'll suck for folks with glasses. Also, non-replaceable cable bit dangling off the back of the headset? Is this thing wired only? If it isn't, is leaving that dangling bit of cable on the back really the best way to do it?
  13. This game does an amazingly good job of pointing you in the right direction everytime you defeat a boss or gain a suit or weapon upgrade. The only times I've ever felt lost were in some of the EMMI rooms, but I figured that was sort of the point of them.
  14. Boston police arrested a Black man having a stroke. After $1.3 million payout, it's unclear if anything's changed WWW.WBUR.ORG The city of Boston agreed to pay a Boston driver $1.3 million after he pulled over to the side of the road after suffering a stroke and police arrested him instead of taking him immediately to the hospital. Guy has stroke in his car. When the police find him they claim to smell alcohol on him, so they lock him up for drunk driving. Only after a concussion and still throwing up all over the place five hours later does he get taken to the ER. Police ten the ER he's drunk, so they just leave him in the waiting room waiting for hours until family finds him demanding he not be tested as a drunk. No drugs. No alcohol. The delay in care is now leaving him with permanent damage. A year and $1.3m later, the cops that claim they smelled alcohol on a guy that's been dry for 30 years leading to the entire mess have yet to be disciplined. Cool.
  15. I'm on the final boss, who is really loving my ass, and I'll agree with you on an three points. This games most major weakness is lack of feedback when it comes to boss damage. There are some cases where I don't know if I'm even damaging someone, but I keep throwing missiles in their faces and they all eventually just die. The music is...fine? It's atmospheric and I do like it. I'm not sure I've ever really enjoyed Metroid music outside of Super Metroid and a few tunes from the Prime games. There's only one powerup that actually feels great when it comes to using it. The others are just kinda of eh when it comes how they feel, especially when armed with those powerups and running through previously explored areas. One other complaint I have is that the blaster feels pretty dinky, no matter how it gets upgraded. Like I know that there are enemies I can now take out with a single blast later in the game, but since they become fewer as you progress and bosses never really take damage from it, the power scaling of the blaster feels off. I'd have preferred it if missiles were an on/off switch like it was in Super Metroid and others. Better yet, I think a better control scheme would have been weapon switch on L, grapple on R, fire on Y and ZR and free aim automatically triggering on use of the right stick. That all being said, it hasn't stopped me from enjoying the hell out of this game. Enough so that I'm one bastard away from finishing the game so soon after launch.
  16. Oh man, I like that every book includes some pieces that are about guns rights, even the book about teaching kids that trans people are just deluded. There's also an anti-universal healthcare book. That's a pretty cool topic for a kids' book; and here I thought the book I bought my girls about loving their natural hair was wild.
  17. Yeah, that sounds about right for a condo association. I remember a similar thing happening at a condo I used to live in. The unit owners found their shoes in a bag next to the dumpster outside. As long as they aren't in anyone's way, who cares. I can't fathom how little people value their time when this is the kind of thing they waste it on.
  18. As I said in the other thread, none of that should even matter since he was a monster to the people he raped and enslaved. Even if you ignore that other Europeans thought he was a monster, I don't understand why the opinions of the enslaved shouldn't don't count. I mean, I do, because not white, but nobody is ever willing to voice why their feelings shouldn't count.
  19. It is WAY easier than past Metroid games. I was more thinking about how, in spite of that, it isn't as forgiving as say Hollow Knight.
