  1. Those people will quote the headline to show that the vaccines are harmful, but then if you tell them that it also shows the virus is much worse, they will say "there is no proof." Then when you point out that the two statements (one supporting, one denying their point of view) both come from the same article, they will just move the goalposts.
  2. Trump and his team fully intend to convert the US to a Christo-Fascist state.
  3. Trump allies prepare to infuse ‘Christian nationalism’ in second administration - POLITICO WWW.POLITICO.COM Spearheading the effort is Russell Vought, president of The Center for Renewing America, part of a conservative consortium preparing for Trump's return to power. Politico has gotten ahold of internal documents from Trump campaign advisors and former Trump admin officials with a list of policy ideas that they have agreed to pursue. These include: A 16-week national ban on abortion (individual states could go farther). An end to "no fault" divorce. Ending surrogacy. Using federal education funding to end sex education in schools. Change federal programs that penalize marriage. Revoke FDA approval of "chemical abortion drugs" and the ability to receive abortion drugs via mail. Protecting "religious and moral" objections for employers who decline contraception coverage for employees. Eliminate policies that "subsidize single-motherhood" (no specifics given). Increasing surveillance of abortion and maternal mortality reporting in the states. Invoking the Insurrection Act on Day One to quash protests. Refusing to spend authorized congressional funds on unwanted projects (a practice made illegal under Nixon) and fight the case to the Supreme Court. Eliminating the diversity lottery for immigration and reforming immigration criteria away from nation of origin, education, family connections, and employment to instead base immigration quality on their commitment to biblical teachings. Saying a person's background doesn't define who can enter the U.S., but rather, citing Biblical teachings, whether that person "accept[ed] Israel's God, laws and understanding of history." Create a new federal task force on fighting anti-Christian bias to be led by "a fully reformed Department of Justice that's fair and equitable." Get court rulings recognizing that the separation of church and state is "a commitment to an institutional separation between church and state, but not the separation of Christianity from its influence on government and society. Such a framework can lead to beneficial outcomes for our own communities, as well as individuals of all faiths." Eliminate funding for and penalize state programs that promote transgender acceptance and replace them with programs that attempt to help correct gender confusion in youths.
  4. My boss has been playing this and talking about it, but I haven't paid that close attention. I am mainly waiting for POE2 at this point.
  5. A Canadian right-wing family crowdfunded money and moved to Russia to live in a perfect non-woke paradise, and immediately found out that Russia sucks ass. "Christian" family moves to Russia to escape LGBTQ, and now can't wait to leave their living hell WWW.DAILYKOS.COM The patriarch of a right-wing Canadian family of eight had just about enough of the gay people existing in his country. “We didn't feel safe for our children there in the future anymore. There's a lot of left-wing ideology, LGBTQ, trans, just a lot of... The pro-Russia propaganda being spun by the American and Canadian right-wing is ridiculous, but is clearly working on idiots.

  7. Posting here since I don't have many other outlets, and I am proud of what I've accomplished. Back in 2015 my wife was diagnosed with MS (while we were still dating), and our employer (we worked at the same insurance brokerage) treated her like shit—they revealed her illness to others, reprimanded both of us for being "gloomy" following the diagnosis, etc. I vowed to quit as I couldn't work there anymore (she ended up staying and they actually changed how they handle things, including a tonne of accommodations for her, and it's a much better place to work). In 2016 I had saved enough to quit and go back to school for programming. I did a two-year associate degree in computer science (basically skipped all electives), and while I burnt through most of my savings, I ended up landing a job as a tier 1 computer technician in the IT dept at a local school division. My salary was lower, but it was a government job so had great pension, benefits, etc. After two years I applied for and received a promotion to an applications job in the same department, which bumped me up to $75k, and I was doing more work with databases and integration scripts. After another two years (last year) I applied for and received a management job as the head of the department's service desk, which bumped me up to $90k. And now most recently, I helped discover another manager was stealing computers from the division (thanks to a new inventory system I brought in, and me being Batman). He got fired, and as a result of not being able to find a qualified replacement easily, the division bumped the pay grid up for managers, so I am also being bumped to $103k with a lot of room for future growth. So my spite-quit from my previous job ended up paying off, and I love my job and team, and on top of that my wife is doing very well (underwent the most risky/potent MS treatment, basically chemo) and hasn't progressed in the last 8 years. I'm turning 40 this year, but I'm in the best shape of my life, recently went back into Ukrainian dance, and most recently performed with the national ballet of Ukraine. I couldn't have had this success without my network of friends and family (and my wife, who helped support us both while I went to school), so I definitely didn't do it alone, but I'm glad I made the changes I did, and took the risks I did. And I'm finally growing out my beard, haha.
  8. Yeah but my uncle works at Nintendo and he says they are going third party.
  9. West Virginia House passes bill allowing prosecution of librarians WWW.NEWSANDSENTINEL.COM CHARLESTON — The West Virginia House of Delegates debated the merits of removing protections for public librarians and school librarians from criminal prosecu The bill now goes to the Senate.
  10. Jesus. A man rescued some women who were still in Andiivka and has shared the video of them leaving the city. Russia now has the city surrounded and Ukraine is withdrawing completely (if they haven't already completed). Russia likely lost 2x as many dead as when they took Bakhmut...but they still have taken it. This is the first city to fall since Bakhmut. https://x.com/IAPonomarenko/status/1758949767223148781?s=20 EDIT - How do you embed twitter, now? Anyway, watch if you can.
  11. As a general tip, the high-speed/high-stamina armour is much better against bugs than the ones with better defense, since most bugs you can just run away from and blast. The automatons, however, are a different story.
  12. Great news, especially if they can deliver it within weeks Czech President says Czechia found way to get 800,000 shells for Ukraine WWW.PRAVDA.COM.UA Czechia has found a way to acquire 800,000 shells for Ukraine but it needs funding to do so, Czech President Petr Pavel has said.
  13. Servers are melting down, the game continues to add players and Sony wasn't ready. No one can currently get into the game, however, as servers are full. Honestly they should have paused sales of the game today, as the devs already tweeted that they knew servers were going to go down tonight/tomorrow from the rush of new players. Now those people are going to have a horrible first weekend impression, and many will likely refund. I JUST WANT TO SPREAD DEMOCRACY
  14. Yeah...I know I got Super Mario Bros 3 on launch day, but my parents paid for that. With my own money, almost certainly Ocarina of Time.
  15. The fact that the Cybertruck can't ever get wet or dirty (and must be washed immediately if it does) actually makes it a perfect car for the sort of suburban Chads who want it; most pickup trucks are owned as a status symbol and are rarely if ever used to haul items—many owners refuse to ever put things in the bed because it might get scratched. So having a truck that can never actually be used as a truck or it will fall apart from rust is perfectly fitting.
  16. Yep, perfect modern take on the casual aracde/action genre. Enough depth to give you some freedom and drive to play more, but simple enough gameplay loop to just let you play for 30-40 minutes and have a good time.
  17. Prompt: "greasy nerd posting on the day one patch internet forums on a computer about AI " (yes, this is actually generated by Midjourney right now...it's crazy how good these are)
  18. No, he is an anti-vaxxer (and doesn't even believe in masks), he believes anti-depressants are a primary cause of gun violence, that COVID-19 was a bio-engineered weapon (and that some Jewish people and Chinese people are immune), and that vaccines cause autism. That is why he is correctly painted as unfit for office. He might have some good opinions, but even Trump or Hitler had good opinions. That doesn't make them fit for office.
  19. Will the Trump/GOP response to this be that the USA is to blame, and that the US/NATO should withdraw all forces from eastern and central Europe so that Russia feels safe (which surely means they not pursue this type of launch)?
  20. Uh...what new Russian capability could this be? Their most-recent hypersonic missile was basically a dud and they can't really make them in large quantities. Cyberattack capabilities?
