  1. Russia hasn't flown any A-50s since the second downing last week. Either they are scared of losing the last few, or, just as likely, they don't have any other trained crews. The A-50 requires a crew of 15 to operate, and they've lost two active teams in the last few months. The loss of AWACS will force Russia to either fly more fighters closer to the front to provide air radar coverage (exposing them to more AA, which Ukraine is obviously moving forward), or they will be much more blind than before.
  2. I imagine with the reception (and what looks to be a bigger box office haul than the first) that Denis will get his change for Dune 3: Messiah, and complete Paul's story.
  3. Anyone see it yet? We have tickets for this Friday. Heard it's better than the first.
  4. It seems like they can't do all of that, until Trump orders it and people listen even though it's against the law.
  5. I assume as long as the drug is approved to treat a condition, then it would be covered (but we won't know the details for a long time, I imagine). Expensive rare drugs are already typically covered under special support programs. My wife, for example, had two courses of Lemtrada for her MS back in 2017/2018. Each one was around $250,000 for the week. At the time, our province required she attempt to use her private plan through work first, and then the government would cover any amount after since it was so expensive (or the entire amount, if none was covered). There are obviously drugs that cost more than that...but $500,000 would have ruined her life.
  6. Oh look, Alberta (MAGA country with anti-vax conspiracist Premier) doing the chud work: Alberta intends to opt out of national pharmacare plan | Globalnews.ca GLOBALNEWS.CA Alberta intends to opt out of the proposed national pharmacare plan.
  7. I like how the company says they are GDPR-compliant...as if following an EU law would apply in Canada. Also, a similar incident in the past (mall kiosks capturing faces) resulted in the company being forced to delete their entire database. To me that implies that this sort of thing is not allowed in Canada.
  8. RTO doesn’t improve company value, but does make employees miserable: Study ARSTECHNICA.COM Data is consistent with bosses using RTO to reassert control and scapegoat workers. This shouldn't be a surprise at all. There are some good reasons to have in-office work some of the time, in some office-based industries, but being in eye sight of middle management does nothing to affect company performance. Also not surprising is that companies that enforce stricter in-office requirements tend to have CEOs with greater control over company operations, once again proving that most CEOs don't actually know anything about how companies actually work.
  9. Additionally, Nazis are openly mingling at CPAC and aren't being kicked out: Nazis mingle openly at CPAC, spreading antisemitic conspiracy theories and finding allies WWW.NBCNEWS.COM The presence of these extremists has been a persistent issue at CPAC, and in previous years conference organizers have ejected well-known Nazis and white supremacists such as Nick Fuentes.
  10. Great news. Yes, it's because the Conservatives are ahead in the polls, and because the NDP have the Liberals over a barrel to not call an election. But that won't matter once it's passed and people have access to cheaper prescription drugs.
  11. Ukraine has shot down another Russia A-50 AWACS plane: Nice that it's over the Kuban region of Russia, which was actually ethnically Ukrainian until the Soviets removed them. This is two that Ukraine has downed (and damaged a third), meaning that Russia likely only has 2 or maybe 3 remaining in service. Russia is claiming it was friendly fire...again, as if that lie is somehow more palatable? lol
  12. How U.S. Pressure Helped Save Brazil’s Democracy FOREIGNPOLICY.COM Mounting evidence suggests Biden kept pro-Bolsonaro generals from executing a coup. Interesting article. Obviously he didn't do this single-handedly, but his administration maintained a concerted pressure and effort (including back channels to Brazilian military leaders) to prevent a coup. Every single former US president is rolling in their graves at US leadership preventing a military coup in South America.
  13. At this point I fully expect that we will drain the Philippines of 50% of their pop over the next 20 years just to fuel long-term nursing and care needs.
  14. I'm only playing on Challenging, but it's been very fun with randoms. Not many people have/use mics, but even so they are tagging things and following along.
  15. Yep, I am flying to Montreal for 5 days to take this in, as well as for the much more obvious reason of just wanting to visit Montreal. Our friend is big into astronomy and goes to all the North American eclipses, so we decided to tag along since it was inside Canada, and we've always wanted to see Montreal!
  16. If I had to guess, because there simply aren't enough beds/rooms? Long-term care is basically maxed out continent-wide right now...it's going to be a disaster over the next 10-20 years as boomers all start needing places to go.
  17. It's going to be crazy when Windows flips over to ARM/Unix. Neckbeards in 1997 would never have believed it.
  18. The PC patch yesterday fixed all matchmaking issues for me. Yes, I need to wait 10-15 minutes before I can get into the servers, but once I am in the game is now running great!
