Finished episode 5 today, not reading any posts in this thread unless I’m tagged/quoted (don’t want to read any spoilers) but so far I’m really enjoying this. The production values are phenomenal, the acting has been good, and even though it repeats a lot of the same story beats it makes sense in the context of the bigger narrative (the struggle for power! the folly of men! the power of hope!) It’s also enjoyable seeing the origin for many of the characters/places seen in the books/films. I’m not sure how faithful it is to the literature (not that I care) so I can’t comment on that, but otherwise I think it has been a great show. I hate that Amazon has done something good.

I don't know how to concisely tell you other than to say his work in Braddock - especially when it comes to youth programming - might tip the scales if you knew more about it. He wasn't perfect and he definitely knows how to work the media, but he and his wife were active and supportive in the community (which is majority Black) in ways that few Senators probably ever have been in their respective towns/states.

Though I haven't met him personally my degree of separation from Fetterman is only 1 in about a dozen different directions, and for all of his faults (of which this incident is only one), I can say confidently that they are outliers as opposed to fundamental character flaws. He isn't the flawless progressive champion as he is proclaimed, but he also isn't a piece of shit.

And the man in question has since said he supports Fetterman and that it shouldn’t prevent him from becoming a Senator.

I got down a Wikipedia rabbit hole reading about the Chechen Wars (and all the shit that went on with Dagestan - federalism, am I right?) and now the way this invasion went makes complete sense. That part of the world is one big gas leak.

Voices were fine, animation was good - I think it'll be a fun movie (and probably have a lot of fan service). I don't think you can ask for much more from a Mario movie.
