I have to ask it again, what show have some of you guys been watching? The show has spent her entire character arc dealing with the fact that (1) her claim to the throne is flimsy-to-nonexistent, (2) that she is for all intents and purposes leading a foreign invasion, and (3) that she is engaging in mental gymnastics ('break the wheel', LOL) to justify her actions. What happened in the last episode is all of those concepts colliding and leading to the most plainly logical conclusion: that she is complete shit and will stop at nothing to rule.

Season 5, Episode 5. After the Sons of the Harpy attacked Grey Worm and Ser Barristan, she summarily had one of the nobles fed to her dragons to scare the other great families.

The only reason people want to call it 'unearned' is because it forces them to reconcile with the awful shit Dany has done that was previously seen as 'cool'. In hindsight her past actions look entirely different, and most Dany fans don't want to admit they cheered on when she fed innocent people to her dragon and proudly burned people alive.

The amount of outrage I could dig up on 'forced diversity' is so evident, I don't think I actually need to bother. Are there examples to the contrary? Sure. But the second a Sucker Punch designer says, 'We thought it was important to represent differently abled people in our game', cue 15 minute outrage YouTube videos by the man-baby contigent. Sure, I suppose. But that just rolls into the points @SFLUFAN has been making: it's lazy writing/design, and there is no reason there can't be more balanced representation when it comes to protagonists.

I think the author is being a bit melodramatic (especially since cleft palate is pretty easily and widely corrected), but I don't see how it is objectionable to point out that it is lazy and unnecessary character design. Dismissing that point simply because it's 'click bait' is some real forest-for-the-trees shit.

There's a lot to be said about how this season has played out, but I have to question what show you've been watching the last eight years if you honestly think Dany's madness was a quick pivot.
