Arthur Grand Technology will probably disappear and a few weeks like Justin Morgan Consulting is going to pop up with all the same people behind it.

Despite my gripes, I find 80-90% of the game is good-to-great. But yeah, the parts of the game that demand more mobility than Leon allows for are just a major black mark. I only ever played the original when it launched on the Gamecube, but it never felt like you would get surrounded and swarmed like the remake. It doesn't help that when you're swarmed or backed into a corner the camera gets all fucked up. I'm playing on KB/M.

I'm about midway between Chicago and Milwaukee (on the Illinois side of the border) and outside of a few minutes of mildly heavy rain it was pretty quiet for me.

Yeah, I did have RT on with the 3080 crashes. I did have one crash with the 4080, but that's in about 20 hours of playtime.

When the game launched I had a 10GB 3080 and putting things in the orange would lead to hard crashes after 5-10 minutes every time. Rather than lower the settings I just bought a 4080 instead and that has been good.

You cannot argue that the game doesn't like to frequently spawn from all sides. That is a statement of fact. And you cannot make the argument that you are particularly mobile in this game. Maybe more mobile than OG RE4, but there is a noticable delay and momentum to all of Leon's moves. I will also say further, and i don't know if I need to change my audio settings, but positional audio in this game is bad. Good positional audio using headphones was a problem solved decades ago. It seems very inconsistent. I know I've seen it work crafting ammo, but not all the time. And I tried this morning to equip +20% weapon resale and the listed price did not change whether it was equipped or not. And even when I sold a weapon with it equipped it did not sell for higher than the listed price.

Is that not just from Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum?

AOE doesn't really mean shit when enemies are on all sides of you. Unless you can run around and bunch them up in a group, but the controls are not conducive to a run around since Leon never moves like he's in a hurry. Not to mention the majority of fights take place in tight spaces with a lot of tables and bullshit in the way. Also, in that castle fight, I can't count how many times I got around behind one of the big dudes and hit the button to back stab them only for Leon to lazily just swipe with his knife while the big dude takes a swing. The inconsistencies in when backstabs are available is frustrating.

Alright, the fight in the castle is absolutely not fun. If there's one thing that has been consistently an issue its that every major fight seems to involve enemies frequently coming in from all directions. Its a terribly unfun mechanic, its a lazy way to make the game more difficult, its frustrating because the movement and controls do not line up handling threats on all sides. After a dozen or so tries when I finally cleared out all the regular dudes and could just take care of the main enemy, the game fucking crashed on me. So fucking pissed right now. It is generally a well-made game and the mechanics are good, but the way they tuned the combat encounters is shit and I will not accept any argument to the contrary.

I'm also playing on Hardcore, and while I'm generally enjoying it, it has its fair share of frustrations. Like, the Cabin fight, for example. Took me a half dozen+ tries and a lot of them ended because of how easy it is to get pinned in a corner/surrounded and then the camera doesn't know how to cope with that. I also don't like that you can't store ammo. Like, I didn't carry a rifle for a long time, but I didn't want to just discard that ammo because its too valuable.

Reading those most recent "Key Takeaways" (because I'm too lazy/too much a dumb-dumb to read the full report), I get the sense that the ISW is kind of exhausted with reporting on Russia's info-campaign. Using terms like "predictably" and calling the information operations as "tired." Like eventually they'll stop reporting on specific propaganda campaigns and just say "Russia spouting off the same ole bullshit they always do."

I'm going to Japan on Tuesday. First time going back since 2019/Covid, but this will be my 7th time overall. Love visiting, and everyone should visit Hiroshima if they have the chance to. Both times I visited Hiroshima previously the Peace Museum has been under renovations and only partially open, so I can't wait to see it in its entirety.
