  1. I would typically stay in Bunkyo, near the Tokyo Dome which is south of your Airbnb, don't think I've ever really went further north than Ueno. Food recs are tough because there are more restaurants in Japan than seems to logically make sense. It's kind of an analysis paralysis issue, but a good rule of thumb is just find the restaurants that have a line forming outside of them.
  2. I went to Tsukiji when it was still around and got to sample some tuna scraped straight off the bone of a fresh fish. Though it was during the middle of the day, so I didn't get to see the auctions and a lot of the vendors in the inner market had closed up. This year I did swing by Toyosu, but only to the restaurant area for a quick bite because I had tickets for the FFX Kabuki show at a nearby theater.
  3. If you need any advice or suggestions feel free to ask! Japan has been my yearly vacation since 2014 (minus the covid years) and last visited back in March for the World Baseball Classic.
  4. I think there's a case where some guys just "get it" with regards to boundries and such, and some guys just "don't get it." And for the former group it is so obvious and simple of a concept that they struggle to think that the latter group could possibly even exist.
  5. Somewhat expected, but my refund request was denied. Two hours is typically the limit and I played over 4. Maybe I give it another go at some point.
  6. It felt very sterile in the way recent Bethesda games have been. Animation, dialogue, storytelling all feel very robotic and like right off the bat the quests they seem to give out are have been the standard Bethesda "follow these quest markers." The UI/inventory also seems to somehow get worse with each game. There's a million items to potentially pick up, but they still expect you to manage inventory by scrolling through a linear list? Morrowind handled inventory a thousand times better decades ago.
  7. First time I ever requested a refund on Steam. I put in about 4 hours per Steam, who knows if I'll actually get the refund but I just can tell I'm not going to enjoy it.
  8. This just the regular Mario Kart arcade game that Bandai Namco makes? There was a big VR center in Kabukicho/Shinjuku that had a VR Mario Kart which was a cool little gimmick. They bulldozed the place within the past year, but I think they relocated all the VR stuff to a more family-friendly location in Ginza.
  9. I think he was the embodiment of the mythical "centrist." Certainly some views more conservative than the general leaning of the board, but certainly more liberal than you'd expect out of a self-made, small business owner out of Texas.
  10. We need to build new pipelines... from the Great Lakes to the plains/mountain states.
  11. I honestly wonder what the war situation would be if Russia focused all their missile and drone strikes against military instead of civilian targets.
  12. I know you've gone vegetarian, but have you ever just tried like Huel or Soylent or those random complete meals replacement stuff?
  13. Five Guys is good, but they are hella expensive. Just pricing it out on their website right now, a hamburger (which is a double patty), small fries, and large drink is over $18.
  14. He's not wrong. I replaced my shower head and the flow rate was terrible. Fortunately removing a bit of the flow limited is trivially easy.
  15. Had a couple coworkers or people related to coworkers get covid'd over the past couple weeks. Hadn't heard any covid in months, but definitely seems like it's making a bit of comeback.
  16. I generally avoided UFO Catchers, but last trip I did spend about 1500 yen to get a variety pack of Chip Star cans from a machine. Plushes and figures, whatever, snack foods that I could just buy at a konbini? Hell yeah.
  17. Gachapon are the capsule machines where you turn a crank. UFO Catchers are the claw machine-equivalent. You wouldn't find a Kirby plush in a gachapon unless it was like the size of a ping pong ball.
  18. I would like to think that you could never act in an "official capacity" as an "officer of the federal government" in an election you're a candidate for. You would have to imagine that Trump would have to make a convincing argument that he was merely trying to uncover evidence of voter fraud, which might be a valid function of the government, versus Trump trying to overturn the election into his favor, which would be in a personal capacity.
  19. As someone who has been to Japan a number of times, yes, you can absolutely "wander" onto a floor that is dedicated to porn. Hell, if you go to a store and the floor guide says "PC Games" they ain't selling Steam gift cards up there, it's all hentai dating sims.
