  1. Course those who are playing the game currently aren’t complaining about the characters. They’re the ones who decided to buy in anyways. Getting rid of all the bugs and glitches wouldn’t make this the Avengers game a mainstream audience would want. That’s its biggest problem. They weren’t able to properly leverage the IP to translate into solid sales, when it should have been to its advantage. They’re not going to get the same chance again. Their opportunity to leverage the wave of pop Avengers hype is pretty much spent. I keep bringing up Battlefront 2 for a reason. As much bullshit as EA pulled, and however hollow the experience was, they still sold a ton of copies at launch. EA was still generally in touch with what the public wanted out of a Star Wars video game, even as a vocal minority complained. SE has appeared out of touch since the beginning. Deservedly, or not. That’s the difference. They weren’t able to onboard very many people excited about the films.
  2. The likenesses and early showing impressions absolutely killed the hype that should have come from an AAA Avengers game. Bugs and post-game only soured things for those already willing to give it a shot. If there was more hype to begin with, SE would have hit their targets or at least come close to it (as Battlefront 2 did). Not enough people looked forward to this game. It’s really that simple.
  3. Every little bit helps when a game bombs this bad, lol. They never recovered from the likenesses, or the bad PR from the first showing. Even SW Battlefront 2 didn’t have to fight this degree of apathy, which is killer.
  4. Went ahead and got the Humble Monthly for November after getting a coupon from them. Figured Yakuza 2 and Darksiders 3 would be worth $4 apiece.
  5. Digital Foundry's PS5 review is live. (written) PlayStation 5 review: welcome to the next generation WWW.EUROGAMER.NET The Digital Foundry verdict: Sony has delivered a hugely impressive, premium machine with great games that really feels like it ushers in a new generation of gaming.
  6. With the exception of Fortnite which will be converted to UE5 this year. Other games in development now are all using UE4. They don't recommend using the UE5 preview build (early next year) for development.
  7. It's the difference between re-downloading a PS5 game vs copying it from a USB drive to play it. Probably something Sony should have supported. But it's much bigger news that the SSD expansion slot isn't usable yet, download speeds are improved, and PS4 games are playable via USB.
  8. Seems like backwards compatibility didn't have much work put in to leverage the SSD. It's more akin to the difference you'd expect from a PC SSD vs mechanical. Microsoft definitely prioritized this more. A comparison to the PS4: All that said, Spiderman: MM loads into the game from the menu in <2 seconds. Games built with the SSD in mind shouldn't have a problem leveraging it.
  9. Holds native 4K 30fps with raytraced reflections. DF didn't find any evidence of any other RT effects, and RT reflections are entirely absent in the 4k60 mode.

  11. Same. I have some gift credit on the PS Store and at Gamespot, but would be perfectly happy waiting to spend them if Black Friday deals aren't outstanding. I could go for Humble Monthlies in Nov/Dec if they're good, by chance.
  12. Review embargo for the console itself drops in 20 minutes. Rumor is there's no straight up quick resume feature, just the play activity cards, and that Spider-Man and Astrobot are the only games that can be discussed. I really dislike the drip feed from both MS and Sony on this. Let journalists talk freely if you want the console reviewed.
