Keyser_Soze Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Yeah but didn't they blow it with that Dragonscale or whatever it was called? I'm not surprised they decided to go with someone else. 16 minutes ago, crispy4000 said: Phil Spencer 6-months ago: They could always acquire Grasshopper Manufacture! Quote
Dodger Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Too bad FromSoft is incredibly unlikely. Quote

Brian Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Funcom I am more surprised by Nintendo not funding Platinum. With Bayonetta 2-3, W101, and Astral Chain, the working relationship was a positive one. Quote

Seems Nintendo is happy funding them for their own game, but it sounds like Platinum was interested in remaining multiplatform. Otherwise, they would have been up Microsoft's offer. Quote

Even with that being the case, is Platinum big enough to every-platform all of their games? At their size, it should probably make everyone working there happier to remain a boutique developer that can pick and choose projects and platforms. Quote
crispy4000 Posted February 1, 2020 Author Posted February 1, 2020 I’m surprised that either party would come to the table after Scalebound. Microsoft should be trying to build up Mistwalker into what it once was instead, IMO. Quote

I came in to say this as well! I really can't think of a better fit for both companies. Happy they didn't get Platinum because there is still a small glimmer of hope for Metal Gear Rising 2! M$ could also buy Nudemaker if they want to give me a proper sequel to Steel Battalion. Quote

And Nintendo isn't a company willing to spend extra $$$ if they don't have or want to. Quote
Brian Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 After the massive cash infusion, rumor is platinum will use Kickstarter to fund a W101 port to Switch and PS4. I guess they used all the money to buy the IP from Nintendo and realized there is none left Quote
