@Bloodporne I had the motorcycle but got stuck in water destroying it. How do I get it back?

I'm 14 hours in and can't stop playing this game.

You can manufacture new ones eventually - did you destroy the first one you unlock that's already sitting there? If you've unlocked online features there should be more in online garages but I forget when that kicks in - 14 hours in you should be able to but I dunno - I play slow and you could still be early.

Basically what Great said. Two ways to get vehicles are basically connecting an area to the chiral network, aka getting an area online and unlocking other players' 'donated'/shared stuff including vehicles, or manufacturing ones at major hub locations that have a vehicle garage you can drive into.

Where are you at right now?

Regarding the other comment...game is addictive as fuck for me like that too.

I just got another motorcycle through donation of another player. I'm 16 hours in and still having fun. I think I'm still on chapter 3?

I'll throw in too that this game rewards experimentation. There are always different approaches, new tools to unlock and even if they seem pointless first, they usually always end up coming in handy.

Chapter 3 is fantastic and really long but it just gets better from there in my opinion, it's where the game really opens up.

What's the last new location you visited?

I'm delivering major supplies to South Knot City at the moment. Thanks for the advice, too.

Spoiler

I delivered the girl back to her bf then they got married. That was about 2 hours ago.

The South Knot City area and the huge waterfall look amazingly atmospheric, I love that whole area. The tar lake is cool and eerie looking.

Did you really get into building roads yet? That's a major addiction of mine with this game, or was at one point. I'd ride around like a damn road contractor for hours and collect thousands of pounds of materials just to finish my roads and somehow enjoyed every minute.

Also, not sure how much you've played with enemy camps yet but raiding those is very beneficial for huge sums of building materials and so on. That and five-star-ing places will yield rewards since I saw a lot of people not really engaging with that in videos. Usually you're rewarded with a new weapon or mobility device or whatever.

I've only built one road but it was satisfying. I haven't really messed with enemy camps just yet but I will.

Spoiler

Like I said, I was delivering a lot of supplies to South Knot City and out of nowhere the entire area exploded causing a game over. Now I have to back track a little ways to speak with Fragile to see what's going on.

Okay, I tried playing this game for about 2.5-3 hours the other week. Which translates to that I “played” something like 30 minutes and watched for about 2+ hours.

Does this game pick up?

Yes, significantly. For example, all the cutscenes added up equate to 11-12 hours, but I logged in 150 hours to basically platinum the game. So the proportion of playing the game and watching it is significantly in playing the game's favor. Early on it's simply the inverse and it'll take awhile to settle in. But it's a long game, especially if you do every unique delivery, and story stuff becomes sparse if you don't bulldoze through only story deliveries. It's just a lot of story stuff early on.

Thanks, I haven’t gotten back to it since the second delivery (first after the opening where it’s basically around the corner). I love MGS, but yeesh, long cutscenes just kept coming every few minutes and it really put me off: MGS4 at least gave me a nice opening level before 30 min cutscenes started. :p

I'm totally with you - it actually becomes so much the opposite later that I wished for more story stuff between my sidequest deliveries but I was trying to do everything, to be fair. :p

And I'm a huge fan of MGS, Kojima, and I loved MGS4, so I understand the worry about cutscenes (though I love them, big fan of MGS4 here). It's mostly a lot of story stuff at the beginning, and a lot at the end. The rest is spread throughout pretty evenly.

I love MGS4, it’s my favorite MGS. Those cutscenes were mostly interesting and filled with action. So far, Death Stranding has been two hours of eating bugs, ghost-things who just stare at people, and “look at me! I’m a hologram!” :p

Yeah, it's a lot to take in at first - it all comes together - just remember, the lore is even in the diary entries and item/cargo descriptions. It's a really unique world dedicated to exploring the ideas of pacifism and isolation in a post-apocalyptic hellscape. It's a strangely very earnest and positive game. Hell, killing people makes them exploding bombs, so obviously the Kojima metaphors are awesome but none too subtle. :p

I would definitely five star as many locations as you can.  It helps with the new equipment you can get, like the cover from the Collector.  It also increases the network bandwidth available with is useful when you want to set up a network of ziplines.

I ended up spending countless hours raiding two enemy camps for materials for the roads.  I even stole their trucks to use early on till I could build my own trucks.  Building roads all the way to south knot city took forever, but it made deliveries a lot easier.

I have a question for you guys.  Later on, a Doctor will reward you for deliveries with high capacity blood bags. Do you ever get the ability to make those?

That's exactly my take on the game as well. I also find it a very positive, wistful and earnest experience with earnest being right on the money. It has a really refreshing sense of idealism and I love the pacifism of it all. I've never played an entire game where even the idea of accidentally clipping an enemy with a truck made me freak out not because of the Game Over screen or consequences in general but because as the character "I'm not a murderer". The whole vibe and message of the game makes it feel incredibly wrong to even think of using a lethal weapon on anyone to me.

I actually think this is a really lovely aspect that was completely glossed over in initial reviews.

Also, the lore, backstories and everything else are out there but really cool and interesting.

@Bloodporne how do I get a truck? It's available to fabricate and I was thinking it would populate where the bike does on the circular elevator shaft. How do I get it?

Also, when storing something in a private locker are those items only accessible at that particular locker or are they available in all private lockers?

1. I forgot how/when a truck is introduced, sorry, but you can definitely go steal the enemy camps' vehicles way earlier than actually receiving a truck. I want to say a truck is introduced to fabricate at one of the major hubs? Also, vehicles seem to populate at random at least the way I've noticed so you can't count on those being in one spot or another I think?

2. In that particular location. That goes for all materials etc. as well. If you start really road building it'll become apparent since hubs etc. have material storage limits you'll eventually hit and then have to use another hub for further storage and so on. Private materials/items are not shared between locations.

Edit: Okay if you want a spoiler regarding trucks, here it is, just looked it up:

Spoiler

Reach Connection Level 3 with the Distribution Center to unlock the Long Range Truck Lv 1

Reach Connection Level 4 with the Distribution Center to unlock the Long Range Truck Lv 2

Reach Connection Level 5 with the Distribution Center to unlock the Long Range Truck Lv 3

Reach Connection Level 4 with South Knot City to unlock the Truck (Defensive)

A good example why 'leveling up', aka increasing the star rating, of hubs and preppers is important. They reward you with pretty important shit usually.
