Bluesky now open to the public.

Ok my wife and I just signed up. I went through the process and picked the topics that interested me. Takes me to a homepage or whatever and the first two posts I’m seeing are some nobody’s whining how they “as a blue sky elder” should have had a say in making bluesky open to everyone. My wife signed up and the first post she saw was a post asking “what is an orgasm?” And the answer was “when you draw a bird on a piece of paper and fold it in half”.

Neither of us plan to ever use bluesky again.

I can't imagine what your first reaction to Twitter was!

For some reason I thought since bluesky just opened to the public, they would put some effort into giving you a positive first time experience.  They definitely succeeded at making Twitter again.

I got in to Blue Sky a few months back and it's been fine. A portion of my twitter follows had migrated over there and they make up most of my feed. Most of those were political reporters, so that's mostly what makes up my feed. I like that it defaults to your non-algorithmic following feed.

Now I jump between Twitter, Threads, and Blue Sky. Threads still seems like it has the best chance to completely replace Twitter, but it's still a ways off.
