But who are these guys you always see in these pictures with all the pins on their jackets? What is their purpose? They're the floor traders on financial exchanges. In ye olde days of yore, their role was to help facilitate trades between buyers and sellers through physical interaction with other traders and broker/dealers though that has been significantly reduced in the era of electronic trading. Now I imagine they largely monitor the electronic trading flows from the trading floor.

Kal-El814
I have this problem whenever I see the trading floor I think of The Dark Knight Rises and how Bane bankrupted Bruce Wayne by conducting a terror attack on the stock exchange but Bruce Wayne’s fingerprints were also there, so no takesies backsies I guess! Except if you have the kind of insider information that traders used to stake their careers on in the days of yore, and you're on a physical trading floor in a garish jacket making conventional trades rather than at home in your underpants contributing to a Big Data financial scheme via your laptop, you're doing it wrong.
