SE’s new approach to a lot of smaller projects have been interesting. I don’t think any have really popped but I wonder if they are really profitable.

This game does look pretty good to me. Seems like a perfect Deck game.

The 3d2d stuff has apparently been very profitable. Stratagy games are finally seeing a resurgence, which is nice because I have always loved them.

I tried the demo for this, and I like it. But it feels like something that’ll be deeply discounted and/or on Game Pass pretty quickly, so I’m not in a rush to buy it. I have plenty of other things to play, like Triangle Strategy, which I’m still only like 8 missions into.

I was expecting this and Valkyrie Elysium to release for $40 because they’re both lower budget AA games, and I would have bought them on day one if they had. But $60 is way too much to ask for them IMO, so I’ll most likely buy them on Black Friday since I’m sure that they’ll be on sale then.

I played this and I agree. It’s very generic from the characters, story and art. The combat system is definitely trying for something different.  Instead of a traditional turn-based strategic RPG, it’s trying to be more action oriented. It kinda reminds me of a RTS where there is a some depth in it but you can be as effective if you throw all your guys straight into an enemy and brute force it.

As with Valkyrie Elysium, anyone end up playing the full retail release of this (game released September 22)? Like Valkyrie Elysium, it seems like this game got absolutely destroyed by critics and audiences alike. For reference, on Metacritic, critic scores stand at: 65/100 (13 reviews), 68 (14 reviews), 73 (20 reviews) and 81 (a meager 4 reviews) for the PC, Switch, PS5 and XSX versions respectively. Audience scores are even harsher: 3.8/10 (24 votes), 4.0 (43 votes), 5.0 (59 votes) and 2.9 (16 votes) again for the PC, Switch, PS5 and XSX versions. Anyone have further thoughts here? A shame both this and Valkyrie Elysium seem to have turned out pretty bad, I was looking forward to both.

Someone gave me a code to gmg for like 15% off of it (or something like that) and that's as far as I got because I'd rather wait for it to be lower than that. :p

Started this the other day. It's pretty fun so far, but man I'm gonna need to keep notes to keep track of all these names and locations. There is a lot of information that is just shot at you all the time!

Keep us posted on how it continues since reviews just eviscerated this thing.

This is probably the best you're going to get from him. Why don't you take the plunge instead and tell us all about it? :daydream:

With reviews that bad and a decent list of games I have that I want to get to that I know are good, I was just more curious where this stood more than anything else. :p

I tried the demo last month and the fact that the fields are fucking named "east" "north" etc was just an instant nope. There's a lack of care and artistry evident from that fact alone that I think shows in the rest of the game. Like no one working on this project actually gave that much of a shit about it. From the generic field names, to the simplified, baby version of pseudo real-time-but-also-kind-of-turn-based combat, to Square's now super generic Octopath title font, to the really bland art style. Everything about the game screams not only budget game, but also budget game no one (or at least no one steering the ship) was passionate about making into something special.
