I watched the first 5 episodes while having some beers and only giving the show ~80% of my attention. Felt like the right way to experience this one. I’ll watch the rest of the season this weekend, probably in a similar manner. :p

What is your favorite beer?

I’m 5 episodes in now and I’m liking it a lot. It’s just dumb fun.  Mackie plays his part great.

I'm with you - I finally started watching this and I'm 3 episodes in and this is . . . a pretty good adaptation of Twisted Metal? Episodes are only a half hour, it's got the same dark, mean, "edgy" streak the good Twisted Metal games have (so Twisted Metal 1+2, Black, and the PS3 2012 version) while actually creating some genuine satire and some solid drama in there as well. We have characters from the games here, altered some but still there, from John Doe to Raven to Sweet Tooth to Agent Stone to Mike and Stu, etc. Honestly, if you ever enjoyed the Twisted Metal games, I'd give this a real watch, it has great late 1990's/early 2000's needle drops and the opening segment before the hilarious Twisted Metal title card pops into the screen every episode are always good for a dark comedy laugh.

Twisted Metal is now among Peacock's top five original series to date

It's got a 7.5/10 on IMDb after 11,000 votes and a 94% audience score on RT (it's even fresh with critics, sitting at 70%), all of which is surprising but the show does work. If it can continue to find a way to thread its multiple tones well (which it usually does but not always) while capitalizing on the surprising chemistry between Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz and a season 2 could really be fun and even better. I'd like to see more characters from the games (and their backstories) in a season 2.

The Mackie and Beatriz chemistry has kept me watching. It is really the strongest point in the show for me. It gets really good in the second half.
