  1. If you like games, you should probably invest in a Switch. Not to mention it covers a lot of Nintendo since the Wii, with all the various ports.
  2. It is the not too distant future where nuclear power stations are safe, automated and every habitable point of the world is part of the Musk Supergrid. You lost your phone and the console arrives in an airtight container…
  3. Just to be that guy, no PC, no emulation and nothing cross-gen (so no PS4 in the PS5). I’m torn between SNES or PS2, for the range- but then there’s the fear the games would feel incredibly dated, potentially not as fun as I’d want them to be. PS4 has been a great console, as was the 360…
  4. Planning on 11 (ish) miles tomorrow, then a walk on the beach and maybe a little swim with my wife and daughter. Probably the second to last long run before the half, so here’s hoping I don’t die halfway again. I’ve eaten a load of carbs tonight, will force a few more in, then I probably won’t eat before running tomorrow (but I’ll have a coffee and a few pints of water in lieu). Update: did it, ended up literally 50m shy of 12 miles. Ran it very slow, but it wasn’t horrendous. Then enjoyed a nice hour at the beach 😊
  5. We have a thing in the UK called an agreement in principle. So we’ve submitted our income, our monthly spending and had a credit check which was accepted - but then we have to submit all our payslips, bank statements etc to be checked over to see if we can actually afford what we said we could. I wish they would just take it all and say ‘we’ll give you this.’
  6. After some delay, I think we’ve now submitted all our info for our mortgage application. What a horrible wait this will be.
  7. Wife was playing Witcher 3 on the Switch, so I started Doom Eternal. It was getting late so I only played about 15 minutes worth, but dear me, it ticks a lot of my dopamine boxes.
  8. Took my daughter to show her the voting system today. Shockingly, we did not vote for our conservative councillor.
  9. I have the first game sitting up in my attic - I remember it being great, but I just wonder how badly the combat has since aged.
  10. The 1974, penguin one. I can’t remember the actual name of the translator.
  11. So, I finished Fevre Dream. It was good, not great. Though it does make me want to read some more George RR Martin works. Started to read Homer’s Odyssey for the first time. Now this may be the first ever work of literature, but so far it holds up.
  12. Kirby is such a good pick up and play game. So, to answer the thread that - in ten minute bursts, over the past few days.
  13. Planned on an 8 miler today, but felt like shit about 1/3 of the way through do changes by route for 6 miles. Think it was a mix of not eating enough carbs the day before, late breakfast and a poor warm up/mindset. Will try for a long run next week and see if that works out more successfully.
  14. I’ve met people like that - I take solace on the fact they rarely progress to anything meaningful because eventually, you get caught out.
  15. My finger looked a lot like that after an accident playing rugby. Turned out the top had fully dislocated and been forced underneath and I fractured my finger as well.
  16. Literally the only people I see in masks now are the occasional old person and international students. Everyone else has given up.
  17. I’m trying to decide if I like Fevre Dream or not. The story premise is neat, but the choice of racial language permeates the whole of the story, not just during character interactions, plus as a parent with a 19 month old, there was a part that was a bit much to stomach.
  18. I mean, I’m fairness, has there been a beat ‘em up released in 20 years that actually feels modern - or was it a genre perfected about 30 years ago and vaguely iterated on?
  19. I think like most people, I would say no, I’m not that clever. Then I think about who I benchmark myself against and have to think, what is being clever? Remembering a lot? Being good at problem solving? Making smart decisions consistently? All of the above? I have no clue. A cleverer person might be able to tell me.
  20. To add to this thread. Just had an offer accepted on a house which is great. Now to see if we get approved for a mortgage, then once that’s done, the unenviable task of packing up an entire house, driving it 15 minutes up the road, and unpacking it into a new place.
  21. I had Symphonia on the GameCube and really enjoyed it, however, even at 15, I knew the story was shite.
  22. I’ll be right there with you, roughly July 23rd, 2061…
