This whole 'movement' is sad, ridiculous and fucked up but in no way, shape or form can I imagine the the solution being that easy. I don't think you're considering the major psychological damage that probably goes hand in hand with years of potential bullying and, even if only perceived, mistreatment that I imagine would drive someone to identify with such a bizarrely extreme subculture.
Arriving at a point of willfully discouraging self-improvement and shutting out any chances of it ever happening has to have been a long road of what I said above. Hitting a gym, dieting, and magically gaining self-confidence and social skills when you're probably hiding a massive amount of depression and insecurity behind your misplaced, ridiculous lashing out against women is probably near impossible.
I actually don't disagree with what you said at all especially being a big believer in personal responsibility but I do think it's a very simplified take for both of us to believe as an answer to something so complex.
