  1. I am extremely excited for this. Mario Galaxy and Mario Sunshine HD are worth the price of admission in my eyes, especially since it seems that a Pro Controller with gyro controls and a dedicated spin button will likely be the definitive control method for Galaxy. And I've always wanted to play Sunshine. Of course I would have loved Galaxy 2 and documentaries and everything remade in the Odyssey engine for less money because baby wants baba, but I'm not really understanding the whinging about this considering Nintendo (or any other source) never once indicated that this collection would be anything other than what it is. The truly glaring thing to me is the limited time release, but even that has precedent with other Nintendo compilations, and at least you can get it digitally, unlike the initial release of the Metroid Prime collection.
  2. Conservative Evangelical Asks God To Give Her Strength To Incorporate Forced Hysterectomies Into Belief System WWW.THEONION.COM CORDOVA, TN—Praying that the Lord Almighty would help her understand the recent whistleblower reports about Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s treatment of migrant detainees, conservative evangelical woman Melissa Carson reportedly asked God Tuesday to give her strength to incorporate forced hysterectomies into her belief system. “Lord, show me how the forced removal of the uterus from multiple...
  3. I'm in the exact same boat. I'm interested just because of how revered the first one is, but completely agree on the art style and the videos of gameplay. If doesn't really look like too much fun, but hopefully I'm just missing something and I end up loving it, since platform games are generally my favorite.
  4. Supraland looks awesome, I've been waiting for it to come to consoles. I don't quite get the warm reception for Risk of Rain 2. I bought it for Switch a while back and I find it to be a pretty garish looking and repetitive game. Spelunky 2 comes out today and I'm interested in that, but it also doesn't look that fun? The highly systemic and procedural world seem appealing, but I don't really enjoy rogue-likes too much, so maybe I should pass.
  5. I think the silent route would be great given how sparse the dialogue is in Dunkirk, which I think is far and away his best movie. The problem with most Nolan movies is that the dialogue is often just the characters explaining the movie to each other for 2 hours. He can be a great visual filmmaker, but I'd say most of his movies are tell don't show. I haven't seen Tenet and don't plan to until I can see in at home, but it certainly sounds worse than Inception, which is insane.
  6. I thought that looked mostly like a ton of CGI and a muddled story. The "we're not so different" thing from the villain reminded me of Austin Powers, much like Blofeld being Bond's adopted brother in Spectre (which is an actual plot point of Austin Powers). The direction this series took bums me out given how incredible Casino Royale was. It was such an intimate movie and I consider it the best depiction of the character in the series's history. Hard to believe that over 14 years we've only got 2 (at best) good films. Hopefully I'll enjoy this more than it seems, but I'm not digging what they're going for here.
  7. Looks like it's still available at Best Buy: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/super-mario-3d-all-stars-nintendo-switch-nintendo-switch-lite/6414104.p?skuId=6414104
  8. Pre-orders are up at Best Buy. I snagged one for curbside pickup on the 18th.
  9. That would be shitty, but I would prefer that to having it go away entirely so I'm hoping that's the case. Will try to pre-order the retail edition if possible.
  10. 3D World + a new expansion is coming next February per the Direct.
  11. The wording about availability is confusing - will it still be available digitally after March? Why on earth would they limit the digital sales if that's the case?
  12. I'd rather have one of the best Nintendo games of all time and nothing else than several warmed over ports and template adventure games that load faster. It will definitely be a weak launch but probably not the worst ever. I think what will really be frustrating for early adopters is the downstream impacts of the pandemic on development. I expect the first year or so to be pretty barren aside from stuff that's already very far along. For that reason I can't really justify a launch console, because there aren't any launch games that seem to make the price worth it.
  13. Left 4 Dead is one of my all-time favorite games, so I would welcome any sort of upgrade. I remember being so into Valve's games at that time. Left 4 Dead and Portal (especially 2) are so genius that it always makes me sad thinking about current day Valve.
  14. Zelda BotW Outer Wilds The Last of Us Part II God of War Until Dawn RE2 Astro Bot Mario Kart 8 Prey Dishonored 2 ... Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2??
  15. I feel like every passing moment I'm less and less excited about "next gen". This is probably the least inspiring generational transition that I've followed. You register to maybe get an email from Sony with the opportunity to pre-order. Not everyone who registers will get a follow-up email.
  16. One Cut of the Dead is phenomenal, which I believe is a Shudder original.
  17. Thanks, for some reason that wasn't showing up in Firefox, but it did when I used a different browser.
  18. Are the registrations closed? I don't see an opportunity to register at that link.
  19. Generally I think Nintendo towers above all others in this respect, particularly with Mario games. Mario Odyssey is maybe the most tactile and responsive game I've ever played, and the incredible sound design adds so much to each movement. I remember marveling at how good it felt to move Mario when I booted it up for the first time. Galaxy is far and away my favorite Mario game, but Odyssey is among the best feeling games I've ever played if not the best. I know this isn't the question, but an opposite example would be Rockstar games.
  20. I don't think that this game, or most action games, are purposefully "right-wing". But you do have to ask yourself why the defining characteristic of western games is the destruction of other people (usually with guns), endlessly acquiring resources, and continually becoming more powerful and dominant. It's an extension of our (in my opinion toxic) individualist and colonialist mindset, which happens to be a core component of most right-wing thought. I think that TLoU II is designed specifically to challenge this, but it fails in a way because it still has to play by all of those conventions in order to be engaging. I think it is as successful as it possibly could be in what it's trying to accomplish, but the fact that it's a AAA videogame for a predominantly western audience means that it has to make some concessions. It's sort of like a bomb in a happy meal, but the bomb has to be small enough that you can still enjoy the burger after the explosion.
  21. That's so kind of you! I'm in the US though. I also don't have the ability to play GC games at the moment.
