  1. I bought Dead Cells a little while back after the price dropped to $25 (I believe it released at $40). I've been oscillating between thinking it's incredible and thinking that it's too difficult and repetitive. The way that it forces you to play differently almost every single time by virtue of the randomized weapon drops is really cool, and I have yet to find an easily exploitable strategy. You constantly have to make decisions about which of three main stats to increase, and which weapons will complement others. However, permadeath means that you're constantly retreading the same (randomized) areas over and over again, and even when you're doing well, you'll run into an enemy or boss whose patterns take several tries to learn, resulting in death and a restart. Add to that the length of time that it takes to purchase permanent upgrades and it can be a pretty grindy and frustrating experience. I may just not be skilled enough to really break through and have the game click, hence my experience, but I have enjoyed my time with it much more than with similar recent 2D action platform games (Hollow Knight in particular).
  2. While it's not similar to the games that you mentioned, I highly recommend Into the Breach. It's a brilliantly designed, straightforward but extremely deep tactics/puzzle game similar to Advance Wars. It's probably the best $15 that I've spent on the Switch. I also really like Inside and Hyper Light Drifter, which are now both out on Switch (assuming you haven't played them on other systems) and should be around that price.
  3. My understanding is that once you fight/defeat Ganon, the only way to continue is to load your last save before the fight. There is no epilogue or anything that allows you to continue exploring once you've completed the game. I've been itching to play this again, as it is probably in my top 3 or 5 all-time game experiences. I've been thinking about getting the DLC to start a new play through in Master Mode, as well as mess around with all of the new challenges. Can anybody that has the DLC speak to its quality, and to whether or not it would enhance a second play through of the game?
  4. I hear you! 7 was indeed terrifying. I need to go back and try it with VR, which I hear makes it unbearably scary. Funny enough, I had a similar reaction when I initially played RE 4 on PS2. During the first section with the chainsaw guy, I was boarded up inside a nearby house, didn't hear him, and out of nowhere he attacked and decapitated me. It was the first time that I can remember that a video game gave me a visceral reaction. I had to put the game down for a few days after that until I gained the courage to come back to it.
  5. What's everyone's favorite RE game? 4 was the first one that I really got into, so I'd say that, but I also don't have much of an attachment to the older games. I played some of RE 2 on Dreamcast but never got very far.
  6. Very late to this, but my favorite games from last year were: 1. Hitman 2 2. Prey: Mooncrash 3. God of War 4. Into the Breach I got a PSVR recently and have been playing Astro Bot and Tetris Effect, both of which are unbelievably good.
  7. I'm sorry! I got rid of my Facebook account around the same time and sort of fell off of videogames for a while, so I wasn't around very much. I appreciate the effort though! I checked in around the holidays and was delighted to see the community active again. I forgot how much D1P meant to me, even though I don't post a lot, so I resolved to make myself another account.
  8. I'm more excited for this game than anything else this year. I thought the demo was incredible, and seemed to perfectly balance the tone and tension of the early games with the action focus of the later entries. I still need to try and beat the REmake that I have on PS4, but I keep getting stuck and not being able to solve the obtuse puzzles. I've had to look at a guide a few times, and I now finally have the dog whistle, which at least feels like progress. Reading through the early portion of the guide, there is so much stuff I missed; the game's design is equally engrossing and baffling to me.
