I really hope there's a lot of the game they're not showing us, because so far it looks like just more Dragon's Dogma. Which I get it, that's not a bad thing. But as much as I loved DD, the environment was fucking dull. I was hoping for something a bit more visual appealing this time around. The monsters look great, though.

Does this mean we will finally be able to play Xenoblade Chronicles 2 at 30 fps?

You can periodically get them on sale for practically nothing to it's a low risk situation. Well, except for the Fatal Frame games. I haven't seen them lower than $30 or so yet.

I'm intrigued by this game, but I have two caveats. One, every single one of my gaming buddies (both of them) are on Xbox. Two, I'm curious what kind of legs this game has, no pun intended. Because it kind of just looks like horde mode.

It is absolutely that. Complete with 50 shades of brown lol. I do like it, but yeah it's a 360/PS3 era game thru and thru.

Ys 9 is the only one I don't own yet. Is it any good? I played a tiny, tiny bit of it on Playstation Plus but I am waiting until I get through the others. Trying to get my way through Ys I & II but this world design is bullshiiiiiiiiiiiit. I fuckin' hate door mazes, and that's like, the entirety of both games.

As an owner of all the consoles... and PC... and Steam Deck, it doesn't really bother me if MS releases their big exclusives on other platforms. But... the idea of MS trending toward third party publishing does worry me a bit. I don't want to live in a time when Sony has no hardware competition. Nintendo just doesn't count. Nintendo hasn't been a go-to console since the SNES. And this comes from someone who bought a Gamecube before he bought a PS2 and Xbox.

Judging from the date on this topic creation, I'm averaging 5 games a month. That's not a good pace lol. If I want to do this in a year I have to do what, 8 or 9 a month? Work was pretty brutal in January and I didn't have a lot of time to play. And when I did, I was falling asleep in my chair after 15 or 20 minutes. And now that all the big holiday sales are over, I should be done buying more games

This industry is such a leaky boat, that we already have a pretty good idea if a game is gonna be trash or not long before review copies go out.

Is it just me or does the new one look like a fancy Earth Defense Force?

Ubi used to be one of my favorite publishers. They had three of my favorite online franchises, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and Splinter Cell. The trifecta. Then they turned Ghost Recon into Far Cry. Then they turned Rainbow Six into Counter-Strike. I'll concede to the fact that Rainbow Six eventually became extremely popular and that gamble paid off for them, but that game could have succeeded under any title. The fact that it was called Rainbow Six had nothing to do with it. It could have easily co-existed in the Clancyverse alongside RS. I don't trust Ubisoft to make a good Clancy game anymore. The Division was good, and I would definitely play a Div 3, but even then it lacked that pick-up-and-play quality that the older games had, when you could get a group of people together in a lobby and just play individual missions. So much easier than culling down your group to four guys and asking them to devote a few hours to trudging along an open world doing... whatever. I've lost almost all faith in Ubisoft as a developer. And as a publisher they don't even fund 3rd party projects anymore. They're such a boring company now.

To be fair, there's an entire generation of gamers that have never played a Prince of Persia, and don't have any nostalgia to fall back on. The ones that are old enough to remember are stingy old farts like me. And Ubisoft is infamous for putting shit on sale for like, 40% off within months of release.
