  1. I'm critical of our lack of an effective military force to maintain Canadian sovereignty in the arctic. The fact that a Canadian jet wasn't able to get there in a timely manner is the issue. That's not really a right or left wing talking point -- the NDP and Conservatives have both been similarly critical of our failures here. So, I wouldn't call it a "right-wing talking point". Despite what Justin's communication department implies, he can't order a USAF jet to do anything. He can only authorize/allow them to do it.
  2. Or purchased modern fighter jets when we had the chance. One of the two.
  3. Really bad look that Canada doesn't have fighter jets to deal with these objects in our airspace, and needed a foreign power to deal with it. I wonder what we could have done differently?
  4. The strangest PC-fetish I have stumbled across in a long time are the keyboard fanatics. 1) I never realized it was possible to spend $800 on a keyboard (and have to assemble it yourself) 2) Their hate for the number pad is a little strange 3) I still laugh every time they talk about lubing their switches
  5. Yes. A big part of it is the small size of the screen, though. Hook the SD up to your 4k monitor, and run it at the same FPS/resolution/settings and you may not have quite the same positive reaction.
  6. I normally listen to all of the dialog. 1) If I am finding the story "not to my taste" I will sometime start skipping the dialog completely (for instance, in a Devil May Cry or Ace Combat game) 2) If I dislike the voice acting, or find the pace of it overly slow, I will sometimes just read the subtitles. 3) If I am really into a world, I will read the dialog on the collectibles and "audio logs". However, I am finding more and more that I just collect and go. This is the case with Control right now.
  7. She has been around gamers, and been in the room for decades of gaming. So, I think she can manage around the "what's next" portion. So, sounds like this is a potential one for her.
  8. All he has to do is bet opposite to me to win (pretty much regardless of how much I bet).

  10. This isn't a negotiation. Anything that Sony says to ActiLizzard is more likely to hurt their case than help it. It's best to not talk to them about it.
  11. Wife has been talking about wanting to play this game. She's not much of a gamer, is it easy enough for a non-gamer to pickup?
  12. I have no problems with people expressing their views on JK Rowling. I have no problem with outlets directly linking negative articles about the creators in a review. I do think outlets do a disservice to their readers when they publish something like this, pretending it is a legitimate review:
  13. Review: 'Hogwarts Legacy' Has No Magic | WIRED WWW.WIRED.COM The game is mid at best, and its real-world harms are impossible to ignore. Wired publishes an OpEd on JK Rowling masquerading as a game review.
  14. Using 10 minutes of google to debunk (from someone who is largely unschooled in anti-Semitism and Harry Potter): 1) The goblin uprising of 1612 was in Prisoner of Azkaban. And involved Goblins having an uprising 2) The Fettmilch uprising was a group who stormed the Judengasse in August 1614 and attacked Jews. 3) Cheese is kosher if is made with rabbinical supervision, and doesn't use rennet. Most places in the US/UK use artificial rennet that can be Kosher. Many European cheeses are made without rabbinical supervision, and using natural rennet (so aren't Kosher). Gorgonzola is an Italian cheese, so most probably isn't Kosher. But neither is most cheese. I've never seen that Gorgonzola being particularly associated with Jews in a positive or negative way. Could this be a hugely antisemitic item? Maybe, but I still think that is a stretch.
  15. You're arguing with the article that you posted to make your point.
  16. If they change architectures again (it's Nintentdo, so of COURSE they will) -- then I bet it won't be backwards compatible.
