  1. I meant to respond to this but I kept forgetting. I should clarify and say that stage presence doesn't necessarily mean theatrics. You can be understated and still control the stage. Obviously not a good person, but Bill Cosby was really good at this back in the day. Dude could perform an entire set from sitting on a stool and could have the audience hanging on his every word. But I would like to revise what I said earlier. It is unfair to say Hedberg was a bad performer, but rather that his presentation was surprisingly unpolished for someone at his level. Or it came across as unpolished. Never mean to use that as a negative, just think it really speaks to how strong his material was that he was able to make it work for him. I mean dude has been dead nearly two decades and people still quote his jokes. That's power.
  2. You know how people on the internet like to constantly make fun of Avatar for being a successful movie that nobody talks about, ignoring the fact that it is indeed talked about often? I Am Legend is actually that movie. I literally never think about this movie.
  3. Congrats! That eyeliner really works for you.
  4. You’re good! I think I was more confused as to why sblfilms upvoted your post which essentially rewords my tweet. Maybe yours was better worded or he just likes you better. Truly confused here lol
  5. I thought their chemistry was great. So many movies feel sexless but they were appropriately horny. Ziegler pulls more weight than Elgort but honestly he’s solid in the movie.
  6. He wisely avoided the Independence Day sequel yet choses a sequel that's even more ill-advised.
  7. Maybe I'm going crazy, but that's exactly what I said in the tweet from me that you quoted The thing about Spielberg is many of his shots seems showy outside of the context of the movie, but within the context they don't. He just always picks the exact correct shot to convey whatever emotion or information he's trying to get across. So while the clips may seem mind blowing on its own, within the movie it feels completely natural and doesn't call attention to itself at all. I think this is why it's easy for him to be undervalued because he never comes across as showy.
  8. I loved that they gave this season the ending from the first Godfather. Gives an idea of where the further seasons will go.

  10. I'm truly excited to hear what y'all think. If you are a fan of Spielberg's blocking then this movie is unreal. Wait till you see his version of America. It has the energy and excitement of an Indiana Jones movie action scene. The camera glides and dances along with the dancers. It's truly spectacular to see. I'm just in awe of the whole damn thing.
  11. I admit my observation her is purely anecdotal. DeSatan is certainly positioning himself to appeal to those who are against vaccines and didn't think there should have been a lockdown in the first place. Will it play out for him? Possibly, but he doesn't have the same charisma or brashness that Trump has. And sadly Republican voters have the worst memory imaginable, which the GOP loves to exploit. DeSatan can just say he was always anti-vaccine and probably get away with it.
  12. What can I say, once you create Seinfeld you are basically allowed to make whatever you want till the day you die. That's why we have Bee Movie.
  13. Not if he can help it. He's already positioning himself to run against Trump and appeal to voters who think Trump is too weak on COVID restrictions and vaccines. Trump's star is already fading amongst the base because of his support for vaccines.
  14. I never really know what to say in these kind of threads. I don't want to seem like I'm uncaring, I just have nothing to add because I'm not a foreign policy expert. The whole thing is just awful, and I pray for peace everyday.
  15. It’s now on both Disney+ and HBO Max, so no excuses. I rewatched it last night and it only increased my love for this movie. It makes me feel so alive.
  16. Advocacy groups sue Texas to halt state from investigating parents of trans kids 19THNEWS.ORG As some families in Texas prepare for worst-case scenarios, the American Civil Liberties Union and Lambda Legal have sued the governor to prevent the state’s... It’s literally already happening. “It’s as bad as it’s ever been,” said Angela Hale, a spokesperson for Equality Texas. “We have fended all of this off for a decade.” Hale said Child Protective Services has been arriving at the homes and schools of a handful of transgender children across the state.

  18. Thank you for this post, it's truly much harder than it looks. Before I set a single foot on a stage I couldn't have comprehended just how much work goes into standup. Good comics make it look so easy and natural, but there is nothing natural at all about getting in front of an audience of strangers and trying to make them laugh. I think there are some funny people who assume standup isn't that hard just because they can make their friends laugh, but it so, so different. Writing material is hard too. Even crafting a tight five (five minutes of a comedian's best material, distilled in a quick five minutes with no laugh and 6-8 good laughs per minute) takes years before it is something you even want to send out to clubs and promoters. Honestly I have a lot of respect for professional even comics I don't personally find funny just because I know how much hard it takes to get to that point. Comedy may be subjective, but the work that goes into it is completely measurable and you can always tell who has put in the hard work to get to that point.
  19. Okay, I see where you’re coming from. I do agree that his material is tied to him as a performer. It’s very much written in his own voice, which isn’t an easy thing to do for a comedy writer.
  20. Not only did I read the document, but I’m also reading in between the lines here. This isn’t the time to be literal. This bill is about bullying trans kids and creating a culture of fear around them coming out. Focusing on whether or not CPS in Texas is effective or not is missing the larger point here. It has more to do with the looming threat of losing your kids just by trying to help them feel comfortable in their own skin. Studies have show that when a minor declares themselves to be trans it is not something that they walk back on when they get older. Their identity is a firm as a cisgender kid of that age. The idea that trans kids are being pressured into decisions that they may end up regretting is a conservative talking point.
