  1. That's why I'm getting deja vu! I honestly had to double check to see if this wasn't a late April Fool's joke or some shit.
  2. We've been trying to warn cis queer people of this. The trans community is the canary in the gold mine. It was only a matter of time before the GOP started going after gay rights again, and sure enough we are experiencing Gay Panic 2.0 with the Don't Say Gay Bill in Florida. And critics of the bill are literally being labeled as "child groomers" on Fox News. Scary time to be living as a queer person, even more so as a trans educator in Florida.
  3. Like I said in either this thread or another thread about cancellation in comedy, "cancel culture" is deeply exaggerated. There are very few high profile cases of cancellations where it actually sticks, and typically it's for the most extreme of cases like Weinstein. Most of the time, all you gotta do is take a year or two away from the spotlight and most people will have moved on.
  4. I'm definitely taking advantages of the teacher shortages as I look to teach public school this fall. I live in a college town where it used to be hard to find a teaching job because all of the college kids tried to teach here after they graduated. Now it's so bad that they had to have a job fair in October to fill in vacancies for the rest of the school year. Kinda crazy, really.
  5. Outside of the one statement of apology he put out, he hasn't really shown remorse at all. On his newest special he jokes about the incident and complains about how hard his life was hit after the allegations. I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but not once does he actually feel bad for what he did. It's just a bunch of "woe is me" nonsense. I believe in forgiveness and redemption, but it needs to be earned in earnest.
  6. From what I heard he's just a veteran pro of an actor who hates working with directors who he feels like don't know what they are doing. So on the first day he shoots a movie he will ask the director a couple questions about what lenses he plans to use - and uses that to gage whether he feels like they know what they are doing or not. This is why some like Kevin Smith say he was enormously difficult, while other directors like Wes Anderson and Rian Johnson found him to be a sweetheart. The kid from Moonrise Kingdom is on Twitter and has nothing but good things to say about his experience working with him on set. I mean, he is still probably a diva, but it's a bit more complicated than simply that.
  7. It's publicly known that the relationship became open after Jada cheated on Will. He was a guest on Jada's Red Table show and had a very awkward discussion about it where Jada basically says she has no regrets over her decisions, and Will still seems obviously hurt by the whole thing. It feels very much like opening the relationship up was her idea and it was done so that she can still have fun. I'm pretty open minded when it comes to open relationships. I've even been in one myself. But their situation doesn't like the ideal foundation for a successful open marriage. You don't open up a relationship to save it, you open it up when it's already going strong. And both parties have to be equally on board. You can't have one person force the other to terms they don't want. It's honestly irrelevant to the situation. It doesn't make Will "less of a man" or some shit like that. But maybe he feels like he's stuck in a relationship that he has no control over, which is why he was so quick to lose slap Chris to assert his control over the situation on Sunday. I'm not a professional psychologist so it's clearly not up to me, but you just don't lash out like that when everything in your life is going well.
  8. The Razzies literally just made fun of him last week for his run of direct-to-video releases, which is yet another reason why the Razzies are straight up trash.
  9. Yeah he doesn't come across as likable when he's screaming at Chris. If your'e gonna act, and your whole thing is that you're a likeable nice guy, then there's a way to come off as angry but not in an uncomfortable way. But this was just embarrassing to see. Not what you expected from Will. Definitely feels like a mask off moment. It also doesn't make sense why he would stage something like this on the night that he was poised to win his first Oscar. This was his special night, and the only reason people will remember he won is because he used his speech as a way to say he was sorry. Also, that speech was terrible. Using that moment to compare himself to Richard Williams was probably not what Venus and Serena were hoping for from that speech.
  10. One of the main criticisms of scientology from a psychology point of view is that it actually doesn't actually heal any deep-seated issues, it only represses them. And when you repress certain emotions for too long, they can often come out in unseemly ways and inopportune times.
  11. Losing a friend to addiction is tough. It's easy to feel guilty and feel like enough wasn't done to reach out. I hope Grohl isn't being hard on himself through all of this.
  12. This makes me really regret not seeing the Foo Fighters horror movie from earlier this year.
