  1. Ya, but I don't understand how this is a Democratic issue. We can go further: Democrats: People should get a higher minimum wage so they can keep up with rent and feed themselves and their families. Conservatives: THEY CAN'T EVEN GET MY BURGER RIGHT! Democrats: People shouldn't struggle and we should have a safety net. Conservative: FREELOADERS! YOU DON'T WORK AND YOU'RE LAZY AND I CAN'T STAND PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO DON'T WORK. Poor immigrants of color: I want to come to America for a better life as I flee persecution. Conservatives: DEY TOOK ER JERBS The person who tweeted this is right that it doesn't win people over, but the idea that elitism is an exclusively Democratic problem (and make no mistake, that's the overarching point because that's the stereotype the person is saying this is perpetuating) is the wrong premise. Nobody wants to be patronized about being unemployed through no fault of their own, about having to use food stamps/WIC, about being paid little and being told they have no skills, about having a "bad job," about being a poor person of color. These attacks are constant from the conservative base, and now we have January 6 video of them being batshit crazy on a different level.
  2. I agree in the sense that you shouldn't talk down about someone due to this, but.... considering the amount of, "Go back to bartending," AOC gets and the amount of, "Biden is dumb and didn't even go to Ivy League," that Biden got, it's interesting to me that he thinks this is a Democratic problem.
  3. I'm happy to hear this because I remember reading, prior to the Georgia elections, that he wanted to do this: Biden's Team Tells Senate Democrats To Send Him Judicial Nominees ASAP | HuffPost WWW.HUFFPOST.COM The president-elect wants recommendations for all existing district court vacancies by Jan. 19, says his incoming White House counsel. Following through, and getting the Senate was a big deal. They want to do all this and fill every vacancy in two years in case history repeats and Democrats lose seats in the Senate since they control the White House.
  4. Guess it wouldn't matter if Star Trek was going to Netflix or not, then!
  5. Takes 5 minutes to do, and it's $9.99 total for 18 months, not $9.99 monthly. Seems like a decent use of 5 minutes, but you do you, man.
  6. I saw OJ Simpson trending and was pretty impressed that all it was was his vaccine. This was my favorite, though:

  10. I was seriously considering making a "JOHNSON & JOHNSON!" thread to complement this one.
  11. On ABC, I think I saw 66% effective overall (EDIT: "In the trial, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine proved to be roughly 66% effective at stopping a person from developing mild COVID-19 with symptoms. But it was 85% effective at preventing severe illness that could send a person to the hospital") and 100% in preventing hospitalization/death "Highly effective" Johnson & Johnson single-shot vaccine 85% effective against severe COVID-19 disease - ABC News ABCNEWS.GO.COM The 1-shot vaccine can be stored in a refrigerator for months, and 100 million doses could be ready by June if the FDA gives the green light.

  14. This comes to you from the guy who did a fantastic dissection of The Last Jedi: And while it does vocalize much of what's wrong with the movie, articulating it in ways that perhaps you were unable, the video points out some things that I didn't appreciate before. Ex: the use of practical effects was actually still quite high even in Rise of Skywalker, and the effects of the movies will age quite well compared with the very sterile looking prequels. And the actors put in some very good performances, on the whole, for three movies back to back. It's enjoyable, and he makes a joke at the beginning about making these videos way down the line when "nobody gives a shit," so by all means ignore the video if you've had your fill But if you entered this thread, I'm assuming you don't mind a watch! He's good, so I think he's worth it.
  15. Democrats prepare to go it alone on Covid relief if Republicans don't cooperate WWW.NBCNEWS.COM Top Democrats say they're willing to use the budget process to bypass the Senate's 60-vote threshold if a bipartisan deal fails to materialize.
  16. The PS5 version is also included so you don’t have to worry about an upgrade. I’m down!
  17. Democrats introduce bill to make Washington, D.C., the 51st state WWW.NBCNEWS.COM While the Democratic-controlled House could pass the bill again, its chances of clearing the Senate are nil.
