  1. Greetings, Tovarish! We are happy to have you reconnected with the world via the Russianet and, as a citizen of the former United States of America yourself, we would like to welcome you to the newest territory of the Russian empire: the Confederate States of Russia. We are happy to have you as part of our family and you are among our newest additions alongside the nation state of Georgia and the region of Crimea. Much has changed since you last heard about the western hemisphere via the "Internet." Allow me to provide you with a few quick facts and reminders to be able to guide you through this brave new world where we serve alongside Comrade Papa Bear Putin for the glory of Mother Russia! First: Since reforming your government the role of "President of the United States" has become obsolete. Your former President Donald Trump now serves faithfully in his role as "cuck bitch durak in chief" (afterwards: CBDC) of the Confederate Russian territories. To the surprise of nobody, your former Vice President was found committing homosexual acts and was promptly executed since this is Russian law. Vice cuck bitch durak Paul Ryan now serves alongside CBDC. This is a mostly ceremonial role that involves helping CBDC to do things such as wipe his ass, accept criticism for and in behalf of CBDC, etc. This is of course modeled after how CBDC does this for Comrade Papa Bear Putin. VCBD and CBDC serve to further your interests and well-being--which, of course, are the interests and well-being of the Russian state--which, of course, are the interests and well-being of the few pure-blood Russian elites and oligarchy. Second: The first and greatest perk of being a slav is our tangy vodka. Also track suits. Please provide us with your address so we can ship these to you post haste. We will not use this information to put you on a list of potential dissenters. Third: Though you are a participant of the Russian empire, you do not have full citizenship rights, and thus cannot exercise such privileges as forming relationships with our beautiful Eastern European women, growing your own potatoes and/or beets, or chain-smoking day and night since your cigarette rations are limited to one pack per week. These are the most immediate and useful facts you need to know in this moment. A full pamphlet and identification kit will be shipped with your track suit and vodka. For the glory of Mother Russia, -GeneticBlueprint Ministry of Truth, Peace, Plenty, and Love (TPPL or "Topple")
  2. Very much this. The story absolutely makes sense because of course there are others who developed similarly to Eleven in a similar situation. But in addition to bringing the pace to a halt, my complaint is that I feel like the entire episode had a completely different tone in everything from the camerawork, lighting, color palette, etc and it just feels so out of place. Like a different show completely. I get that it's in a different location with different people so they gave it its own personality, but it still felt off. Besides the above were there any other complaints in general? I didn't pay much attention to the conversation surrounding last season.
  3. Between the Buried and Me - Automata II - 5/10 Sigh. So, BTBAM released the "first part"--Automata I--of this effort earlier this year. And I can't discern why this was split into two. Length? The two albums combined clock in at a little over an hour. Plenty of records (especially metal ones) do that. Money? Metal records don't make money to begin with. Metal musicians don't derive their living from album sales. So it's a tough sell making me think it might be for that reason. Creative decision? Hard to justify since there are so many references, both musically and lyrically, between the tracks of both albums. And so should it be with a concept album by a progressive metal band. That's why I'm knocking this down in my rating because I guess it does feel like they took my money twice when they should have only taken it once. Because the music itself is incredible. It leans more into their earlier heavier material but is doused with their more melodic recent elements as well. If Automata I & II were just Automata I'd give the album a much higher rating. They did a similar thing before with the two Parallax albums, but one was an EP and was priced accordingly while the other was a full length album and priced accordingly. But this is one album split into two parts and both were full price. Anyways, back to the music. The first track on the album, "The Proverbial Bellow", is easily the best progressive metal song I have heard this year. It's an epic 13+ minutes of odd time signatures, sweeping guitar solos and melodies, dissonant harmonies, raspy growls, beautiful singing, and goddamn riffs. But as soon as that's over we're back to complaining about the album being split again, because the next track is what seems like filler on a split album, but would have been a breather on a full length album. God. "Voice of Trespass" is the next track and it is an intoxicating mix of swing, ska, and metal that just works for some weird reason, and its final moments echo a track from Automata I. It's fantastic. "The Grid" closes the four track album and it's also a really neat song that is all over the spectrum of elements and sounds. It's weird giving an album that is absolutely brilliant for 95% of its run time a mediocre rating. But this is metal, and albums as a whole are what metal should be judged by since we don't do singles for radio play. For this album, the tracks individually compared to the whole album really is a case of the whole being lesser than the sum of its parts. And it's definitely better than Automata I.
  4. My favorite thing to do is have people blindly listen to "Fraccions" by Soen and tell them that it's the new Tool song.
  5. Cleanskin - 3/10 A movie about a British Secret Service agent hunting down a homegrown terrorist cell in London starring Sean Bean. What's not to love? Turns out: pretty much everything. The action is horribly shot, the effects are bad, the script is a convoluted mess, and the dialog is atrocious. Also Sean Bean doesn't die. WTF.
  6. https://www.deseretnews.com/article/900024780/puppy-pistol-utah-gun-rights-activist-says-she-was-duped-by-sacha-baron-cohen.html A gun but in Utah got the same treatment from SBC.
  7. I want Rey to do that. I want her to build a dual bladed saber out of the two halves of Luke's that she took after it was severed. And if she doesn't I'm going to spout a bunch of sexist nonsense about how Episode IX sucks.
  8. I would like to voice my support in favor of the new board names. I was actually thinking about something similar the other day but didn't think enough people would care one way or the other.
  9. I think that if it weren't for this object a bunch of Uranians would be studying our planet saying the same thing.
  10. Illegal. It was separated from its electrons and a bunch of snowflakes are protesting. I'm skimming the article, but I'm curious how they know specifically where it's from.
  11. The Death of Stalin - 9/10 "... Yeah and that's why I said 'No. Problem.'" XD. God this movie was great. I loved every minute.
  12. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/ptolemaic-sarcophagus-discovered-alexandria-egypt-180969551/ Amateur historians on social media are freaking out saying it could belong to Alexander the Great. This due to its location, size, age, and being buried with an alabaster bust that represents similar busts of Alexander the Great.
  13. Who is the Ken Griffey Jr.? Keep in mind he had a nice booty.
  14. Or rather, he will fund putting a water filter in your house if you email him. Not really fixing the root of the issue.
  15. TFW Abbath-less Immortal is no better or worse than Abbath-ful Immortal.
  16. Agree with this 100%. I mean it's been said already but when several countries know we'll come to their aid if anything major happens they lose that incentive to contribute.
  17. https://www.sltrib.com/news/education/2018/07/11/utah-movie-theater/ Some Parkland shooting survivors, who are at this very moment on their way to Salt Lake City, have had their public discussion canceled by the event host due to "escalating tensions". El oh el.
  18. I've never played a tabletop RPG. None of my friends were ever into that. I would really like to play this one. I've read two of the Witcher books and loved them. I love the videogames. I'm sure I'd love this.
