Yeah, without getting too spoilery the very last scene of season 3 would have been a perfect ending for the show. But instead we have to deal with the repercussions of that scene for the rest of the series and it's the worst part of the show tbh. But don't worry, there are so many great moments and episodes in the show up through like season 7 at a bare minimum. Like this episode, for example. Fucking gold. And "Scott's Tots". And "The Deposition", "Gay Witch Hunt", "The Coup", "Frame Toby", an extended storyline in season 5 that's title is a spoiler, etc. All episodes after season 2. And that's just off the top of my head. You've got so much good stuff coming your way. Season 8 jumps the shark and season 9 eats the shark and then jumps the Megalodon, unfortunately. It's brutal. Except for 75% of the last episode.

My earliest gaming memories are of the NES. Super Mario, Super Mario 3, Tetris, Dr. Mario, and this gem: I'd say that's what got me into gaming.

Agreed. Especially in this case. The moment the dude pulled the gun (which he probably shouldn't have at all) the assailant backed off. Then he pulled the trigger. He needs to be tried for murder.

That's not what I said at all. I specifically said the opposite. I'm looking at @Greatoneshere's posts about the law in PA saying you need to use equal force in these situations. I'm saying I don't think it's unreasonable to not know what that is since you apparently have to take into account weight, sex, and muscle mass among other things while you are being attacked. I think that's a little unfair to ask of the vast majority of people and I don't think it's unreasonable to use a level of force or threat higher than the one your assailant is using to get them to stop. That does not escalate to purposefully killing.

Reading the last several posts I'm actually a bit conflicted. I think it's kind of unfair to ask people to make these kinds of calculations in situations where their fight/flight response is going crazy. But I also think there are clear situations (like this specific story) where somebody else's reaction was way overboard. If a guy shoves me I'm probably not going to shoot him (if I carried a gun). If a guy is punching the shit out of me yeah I might pull a knife, but not with the intention to kill or even wound (if I carried a knife), but just as a visual warning that if he continues he will escalate the situation now that he knows what I'm carrying.

The Lost City of the Monkey God by Douglas Preston. It is an enthralling true story about a team of archaeologists and explorers finding a rumored hidden city in the Honduran jungle using Lidar, then subsequently pounding the ground to go explore it. I'm about halfway through. It starts with some colorful ancient, recent, and modern history and then moves on to the main event which I'm in the middle of now. One of my favorite stories so far is about how they encountered a Fer-de-Lance viper and an SAS commando that was accompanying them trapped it with a snake stick, grabbed it from behind, decapitated it, then stabbed it through the head into the ground because the thing kept trying to attack him.

Skeletonwitch - Devouring Radiant Light - 9/10 I love old Skeletonwitch but my goodness this new direction is incredible. Longer and more thought out songs that allow melody to build and be enjoyed for longer spans of time definitely is not a bad thing. My only complaint about previous Skeletonwitch songs is that they didn't let you bask in their brilliance and were over before you knew it. While definitely slower than they used to be there is one song on here—"Carnarium Eternal"—that's probably their fastest ever, and since the songs are longer they all have their fast moments too, so it's the best of both worlds. I think my favorite song on this album is the longest one, "The Vault". It's got melody, it builds up, goes all out, and winds down and is pretty catchy in some parts.

Sigh.
