  1. I mean, I assume at the very least that Starfield will be equivalent to Skyrim/Fallout, which is to say that it might "suck ass," but will be moddable to make it great.
  2. I'm not sure how I feel about US nuclear war with China. If the US and Russia engaged in full nuclear war, then my city would likely also be hit because of our strategic plants (oil refinery and steel mill). With China, it's not really as likely. So I have a better chance of surviving the exchange...but is that actually better? lol
  3. So, forgive the dumb analogy, but this seems to me like: Biden walked out of the grocery store without noticing a chocolate bar in his pocket, and when it was identified as not-paid-for, it was immediately returned and the manager notified Trump stole a bunch of drugs from the pharmacy, hoping to sell prescription/medical information about the intended clients, lied about returning them when caught, and likely still has some drugs stashed somewhere So not similar in ANY way at all, except that both incidents involved documents not being where they were supposed to be. Which...I guess the dumb American media will absolutely eat up.
  4. Conservative gov in Canada tried raising the retirement age to 67...and lost the next election. Liberals not only lowered it back to 65, they increased contributions to CPP (especially at the higher end of earners), which is going to increase the CPP amount from 25% your top salary to 33% your top salary (there are maxes, of course), and phasing it in over the next few decades starting now. My point is that strong retirement funds are popular, and raising retirement age is not.
  5. I'm sorry to hear that Our big chubbo (Rocky) died last year from cancer. We took him in because he hadn't been eating for two days, and we put him down that afternoon. It happened very fast, but in his case the surgery only had a very small chance of success, and then he'd need intensive chemo, etc. If we'd had a real chance of saving him...I don't know what we'd have done. I know my wife would have spent thousands.
  6. Absolut is likely upset that despite Trudeau being in power for so long, and defeating three successive Conservative leaders, he is still more popular than the new Conservative Ben Shapiro-impersonator leader, Pierre Poilievre (Poilievre has worse approval numbers at this point than any Conservative leader in modern times, mainly because of his association with the crazy far-right wing of the party, including the convoyists and PPC). Polling has been pretty steady, with the CPC beating the LPC by 2-4 points in the averages, but the LPC still coming out with more seats (due to the CPC being over-popular in seat-shy areas). Also, these "attacks" on Trudeau (saying that he is egotistical and vain) aren't very effective since everyone already knows he is. They need something new. Inflation and housing are honestly the most effective angles (even though Trudeau has nothing to do with inflation, despite right-wing assertions that he somehow caused worldwide inflation), but housing is a more valid attack (even though Poilievre wouldn't change things at all, since it's the conservative provincial governments that are failing on this). The issue is that Poilievre is also a loser who supports crypto and can't be taken on anything to do with economics. If there is going to be an election next year, then the Liberals would be crazy to change leaders. If it's late 2024/early 2025, then I do think they should change. I just don't know to who. Freeland seems to want the NATO top job, so it might be more of an open race than predicted. I like Marco Mendicino.
  7. NATO poised to provide main battle tanks to Ukraine, starting with the UK: (S+) Krieg in der Ukraine: Großbritannien erwägt Kampfpanzer-Lieferung WWW.SPIEGEL.DE Deutschland, Frankreich und die USA liefern der Ukraine Panzer, nun zieht womöglich ein weiterer Nato-Partner nach: Nach SPIEGEL-Informationen erwägt die Regierung in London, gut ein Dutzend Kampfpanzer vom Typ Challenger 2 abzugeben. Apparently final decision on Jan 20, but it seems likely multiple nations will donate tanks.
  8. Unfortunately, Venmo is not available in Canada (we have our own equivalent in e-transfers). I technically have a paypal account, but it's not linked to my bank, I only use it to pay things via credit card when paypal is the only option.
  9. Is there an easy way to send money from Canada to the US? Only way I've done it before is things like GoFundMe, I don't know that regular financial institutions have a way outside of expensive wiring.
  10. They've broken into Congress and now also the presidential palace. Are currently vandalizing the supreme court. No surprise that the fascists are not being stopped by the fascist pigs, who are recording and laughing.
  11. Doing pretty well, all things considered! How about you? (RileyLewis)
  12. In fairness, Canada has some weird math for some stuff (e.g. to amend the constitution in most cases you'd need seven provinces to approve, but they need to also need to hold 50% of Canada's population. So you could have three provinces with 60% of the pop and fail, but eight provinces with 51% and succeed), it's just generally not as wonky and arcane.
  13. It's based on a call for vote from 1/3 of state delegations, which means anywhere from 20ish to 80ish house members, depending on the states and makeup of the delegations* *this is entirely made up, but sounds like it could be true, because that's how dumb the American rules are for this stuff
  14. Incredibly Productive House Of Representatives Assembles For 8th Vote In Just 3 Days WWW.THEONION.COM WASHINGTON—Defying speculation that the 118th Congress would get little accomplished during its term, the incredibly productive House of Representatives assembled Thursday...
  15. Bloomberg - Are you a robot? WWW.BLOOMBERG.COM US and Germany to Send Ukraine Armored Vehicles in Major Arms Upgrade Great news.
  16. Yeah, just because someone in a community doesn't deserve respect, that doesn't mean the entire community doesn't, as well.
