I am of the belief that companies like Pfizer create drugs that work...but are still overall evil. Much of their research comes from publicly funded universities, and they reap the profits. -
I wonder how open the US is to Chinese leadership behind the scenes about US response. Allegedly, the Pentagon communicated quiet openly to the Kremlin (through direct channels) exactly what the US response would be if Russia used a tactical nuclear weapon in Ukraine. I wonder if the US has a similar dialogue with China re: Taiwan. On the one hand you don't want to give away your strategies...but on the other, the US is in a position to do things other countries can't.

Also, looks like F-16s are getting more likely, even though Germany is very opposed to air donations (fuck Germany): At the Pentagon, push to send F-16s to Ukraine picks up steam - POLITICO T.CO Kyiv has renewed its request for modern fighters in recent days after the U.S. and Germany approved transferring tanks.

Looks cool. Main concern is that it looks veeeery slow (hallmark of console-first design, with PC being a port), but it's entirely possible it's that way for trailer purposes. Many games do that to make them look cooler. I'll wait for future actual gameplay videos from real people to make a decision on whether to buy on PC, but it's definitely on my radar!

They gave more weight to bad pollsters in the last cycle than was warranted (e.g. Rasmussen). As a person, Nate Silver thinks that because he is an expert at stats, that makes him an expert at anything. He's made questionable comments about COVID-19 and other things. He intimated that "liberal elites" pushed to keep the vaccine from being released until after the 2020 election, and he also said that temporary school closures due to COVID were as harmful as the Iraq War.

Nate Silver and FiveThirtyEight Are on ABC’s Chopping Block WWW.THEDAILYBEAST.COM In this week’s edition of Confider, we report how ABC News is considering offloading the star data journalist and his famed website. They do interesting work...but I also question their integrity with how they weighted polls in the 2022 midterms. Plus Nate is a real dillweed.
