  1. Now that most games do let you save anywhere it makes the ones that don’t let you stand out in a real bad way. Though if used properly I think save points can have their place.
  2. I wonder how many people bought control on that sale lol. I very nearly did, but super stoked for this now. Haven’t played it.
  3. I know this is not true. Any game that is trying to be an online experience is going to dedicate significant resources to making that experience as cheater free as they can. It’s crucial to their success and profitability over the long term. And I’d venture to guess the reason PC has more difficulty is that, well, they’re PCs rather than Sony and MS being super aggressive at cleaning out cheaters. Like I don’t think you can assert that the reason cheating happens less on consoles is because your monthly fee is being used to address it.
  4. It’s not that I don’t run into cheaters, it’s that it doesn’t happen at a level that’s like holy shit I need to play this game on console only. Most games worth their salt on PC figure it out. Played probably 300-400 hours of PUBG and can probably count the number of ruined games on one hand. You don’t seem willing to engage with me on the other stuff, which is fine.
  5. To be clear - the services are fine. I pay for PSN online and I don’t lose sleep over it. I don’t feel like I gained $60 of value when they started charging though. I also got on the PS+ train reeeeal early and initially was pretty stoked with it, and now it’s pretty rare they add anything I’m super interested in.
  6. You’re making a lot more declarative assertions than this, such as people who don’t want base XBL discontinued are whiners and that paying $60 a year for online services is a “great” deal rather than a charge you are required to play to play online on their console because they have you held hostage if you buy their platform and want to play online. Until their recent fuck up, you literally couldn’t even play FREE games on their online service. It’s not a great deal, man. What PC games do you play that are riddled with cheaters and bots, specifically? I have never found a significant difference in cheating from PC to console and I regularly game on both.
  7. Plenty of people out there play their 1-2 games a year and have no interest in paying more money for shit they’ll never use. That doesn’t make them whiny. Playing a game of MS is “better” to “gamers” than another company is a fool’s errand and only makes you appear irrationally fond of a corporation. They deserve zero credit for walking back a perplexing decision that they just must have assumed most people would either be mildly frustrated with, or perhaps enough people like you who almost support the decision since they’ve been so good to us for so long. come on
  8. I have an “essential job” or whatever so I have been very thankful to be able to work not just full time but frankly a ton of overtime (some required) over the pandemic. However I would say the pandemic has changed my habits due in part to no social time with my friends and just my general head space has been relatively poor this year given all that has been going on politically and with the pandemic. All that said I tried FF14, really for the first time (had it from several years past but I didn’t stick with it past a few hours). And I look back really fondly on playing that -played it all solo, didn’t really know what I was doing, but there was something about it that was really comforting to play. Also a bit stressful, as I played a tank not really registering how important that role is in group stuff, and I def had some people express some real frustration with me. Overall though I was amazed at how helpful people were. It was a really nice glimpse of the kindness of people in a community during a real shitty time in real life. I have been tempted in the last few weeks to start it up again. Other than that I’ve played a ton of animal crossing - probably my most played game of the year - despite real misgivings I have with it. And I’ve made a lot of progress on my backlog and chopped it down in terms of just letting go of some games that I really probably will never play or like, if I haven’t played them yet I probably won’t.
  9. You’re not wrong but even for a big company with not enough corroboration and the possibility of some guy high enough up who didn’t sign off on it, or some guy too high up who forced it to happen when smarter people telling him it’s not gonna go well, etc etc WOOOF Like going from DOUBLING the price of your, let’s be honest, already expensive and probably exploitative service to being like, oops our bad is REMARKABLE.
  10. So like - honestly what the FUCK? What possibly occurred that they didn’t anticipate? I do not understand how a company of their stature DOUBLES the price of their online service, decides in a matter of 12 hours or so that oopsie daisy we made a little mistakey poo sorry everyone, and also makes good on some shit they should have years ago (free to play stuff). I do not get it.
  11. Has there been anything shown about overwatch 2 since its announcement? Diablo could be great but we’ve got a long way to go before we can declare it anything yet. But anyway I think your first phrase in your first sentence is the issue. That’s why people are upset lol. A super talented studio relegated to making forever content for their money farm.
  12. I fully expect them to gradually up the price of game pass ala Netflix as well. I know people love those services but I think it in the long game it’s possible they’ll be a net negative for the industry.
  13. Man I really enjoyed my time playing this at the beginning of the pandemic. I only got through the initial like main story arc.
  14. I had to stare at this for like 3 minutes because I was sure you said there was no PS5 version period.
  15. I agree. And I guess because it's empty it feels small to me too. It's a series of vignettes rather than a world. But I still love the game. It just didn't hold up as well as I had remembered it.
  16. miss my Steiner icon I replayed IX when it came out on switch. The time speed up features make it so much more playable today. I don’t remember the translation being so bad, but I’m sure it is. It really does have some good characters though, and it makes me understand some people’s quibbles with like the materia system allowing any character to be any class. There is something to knowing Vivi will be your mage throughout and so on. One thing that struck me is that IX kind of lacks great side content other than the card game. The world felt small to me.
