Television Archer S14 - The Final Season
Mr.Vic20 replied to Spork3245's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
This season is strong and reminds me of the early seasons where the comedy was fast and fresh as apposed tried and true. -
Microsoft "Officially Welcoming Bethesda to Team Xbox"
Mr.Vic20 replied to CitizenVectron's topic in The Spawn Point
Simple: Skyrim is now a cancer that self replicates on every platform regardless of the quality of experience and without human input! Elderscrolls is a wholly different beast! -

Wow! This is a big get! Also, ES on Gamepass! -
2020 was too much of a "future" sounding year not to launch consoles in! But yeah, I think that what the consoles missed out on, from a hardware perspective is RT and something rivaling DLSS 2.1. It would be of serious benefit to the longevity of this next generation if these units had custom RT & tensor style cores. That said, I suppose there is always the opportunity (and now precedent) for a mid-gen hardware refresh that does exactly that in 2024?

@Greatoneshere I definitely follow that logic, except exclusives. Sony has a hell of a stable of 1st party IPs that I’d love to have on my PC. If Sony pulls a Microsoft and does deliver basically all IPs to PC then yeah, this line of reasoning really takes off, because outside of Nintendo you can play every thing (let’s be real stadia, you still don’t count!) on one platform at the highest possibly fidelity.

Yeah, I love my PC, but I continue to see why people want consoles and why they want to know which one will offer more power/features. Console offer a great price point entry to gaming and this generation will enjoy a pretty close parity with the high end PC experience for the next few years. Plus, exclusives.

Your preference (and mine as well!) is part of Sony's feature strategy, where you can hop from game to game near instantly, through a series of freeze states. Its very cool and the kind of feature that you don't technically need, but once you get use to it, you will not want to go back. Discs will be an obstacle to this new way, and Sony knows it. We're all be nudge toward the "right" way. -
Wide spread it was not, but it was how I was achieving 4K gaming in 2016! Good night sweet prince, you truly became a hideous goblin king toward the end!

PC Tech Looking for a new mobo perhaps

This! Seriously, this! The next Ryzen Processors are likely to rival intel or take the crown for gaming and PCIe 4.0 will be a bonus. -
Sony Spider-Man PS5 Remaster won't be Free Upgrade for current PS4 owners
Mr.Vic20 replied to JPDunks4's topic in The Spawn Point
Ray tracing can be added to just about any rasterized 3D game (there are even concepts on how to make 2D RT!) but it all comes down to how well the hardware can handle it. There is Hardware RT (currently Nvidia only) and there is software RT (everyone else). There are also many, many different ways and degrees to which RT can be applied to a game. So a game might have "Ray Traced!" as a bullet point on the box and have very little of it in the actual game. Bottom line, Hardware designed to handle ray tracing currently kicks the pants off software using some non RT customized core.
