  1. I ran SLI for 4 years until I final stopped punishing myself. The handful of users that still do defend it through story telling that is less than truthful and cherry picked examples of solid implementation. Over all, its a massive pain in the ass, and if you want to take advantage of all that power, you have to wait until everyone else has played the game you are excited about while the SLI support gets ironed out. Nvidia themselves do not like SLI now and will largely ignore issues for months at a time.
  2. Probably because the excited engineer that breathlessly offered up that idea, discovered later that even a few millisecond desynchronization between eyes would result in vomiting! So much vomiting, and head aches, oh the headaches!
  3. That is exactly what I said to my wife as we watch this trailer. Ok, I actually said “that franenstein’s monster mash of robert Redford and Brad Pitt is pretty hot!” , but you know, same same.
  4. Those are fair points, but the 3xxx series will sell really well and the 2xxx series will finally start selling on the used market because the 3xxx series makes them more than redundant. In my mind, it really comes down to just how easy it is to implement future DLSS iterations. If it gets any easier than 2.0 and 80% of the discrete market is team green, how do you stop that? Games that start as console titles will also adopt DLSS when ported over, just like Death Stranding. Whatever the method, DLSS or otherwise, AI assisted reconstruction techniques are clearly the path forward. I just hope AMD does what they always do and find a way to take this feature our of Nvidia's singular control.
  5. The Challenge AMD has is that with the advent of DLSS2.0 and beyond, adoption of this tech is now rapidly moving forward. When DLSS 1.0 hit it mostly just sat there. DLSS 2.0 is genuinely gaining traction and if it hits broad adoption, AMD must have an alternative or they will be slaughter in both performance and price from the top of the stack to the bottom. I hope their new GPUs have a solution to this issue, or the next generation of RTX card will be more expensive than ever.
  6. I think that EA's current and near future catalog looks weak compared to the other big pubs and they went with an option that gets their existing games out there in a way people will actual bite. Its a get for MS and it seems its of benefit to EA or they wouldn't have agreed. It will be interesting to see how long this partnership lasts, and if it will herald a price bump starting next year.
  7. Only a handful of Fox news viewers will ever know about this. And of those, few will care.
  8. Its been years since I've said "oh nice" about an AMD card! I just want them to not let Nvidia run away with everything. Unless they have a counter to DLSS, this is an impossible hill for AMD to climb.
  9. I've worked in utilities construction for roughly 10 years so I know a little. What I've learned is that everyone robs the utilities budget for "associated" work. Additionally, I would imagine that California, being a massively big state probably has a huge problem with aging infrastructure that, surprise, probably hasn't been funded properly in forever. No one gives a shit about utilities until they break. You can't get elected by promising to pour money into infrastructure or utilities UNTIL enough misery and horror happens. People give it lip service, but time and time again its neglected.
  10. I leech all my power from Cornell University in upstate NY! Cornell produces so much power that it sells it back to the grid, and the local area benefits from relatively cheap power.
  11. That sucks, but at least I have some way to watch it, thanks!
  12. I have HBO Max through Hulu, yet I can't find this show. Any tips?
  13. Very impressive from a technical standpoint, but looks poopy.
  14. What resolution do you game in? Does 60FPS matter to you? overall @Spork3245 point is a good one and will probably address your needs for years to come, but if you are gaming at 1080P and don't care about things like ray tracing, then even a 1080ti should serve you well.
  15. given how little you can sell them for, it seems better to either hold them like you suggested or repurpose them, but some folks are really excited I guess!
  16. Based on everything I've been able to read from AIB responses and small articles, this looks like a limited stock launch, potentially very limited. I'm guessing many of us will not be getting a 3xxx series card until late 2020 or early 2021.
  17. Fear always becomes money, from comet pills to this. This is Amurica, and we love to sell shit.
