House Republicans passed an education bill on Friday that emphasizes parental rights in the classroom, leaning into a hot-button, culture war issue that has gained popularity in GOP politics...

This is the first national bill to target transgender youth, forcing them to be outed to their parents as well as forcing teachers to misgender students by withholding Federal funding from schools that do not implement such policies.

This obviously isn’t going to go anywhere though it’s scary to think about next time republicans hold the senate. I’m still not sure if going full boar on government sponsored hate crimes is going to be what people are going to want to see the government spending time on in 24 though.

The reason they're putting so much energy into going after this kind of stuff is because the Republican party pretty much doesn't have a platform of like... governance. They want to "cut government spending," but can't find anything to cut that wouldn't be political suicide (cut from what? Medicare? Social Security? the military?), so the only option they have is to get people riled up over single issues like the trans woke CRT agenda. It's the only card they have to play.

Its been confirmed they are going so hard after LBGTQ+ people because the abortion vote is essentially dead.  They had to find something to direct their hate at.

Most certainly, and they've been testing the waters to go hard against trans rights even before the repeal of Roe V Wade. Likely hoping to copy the unfortunate success of political campaigns against the trans community in the UK where attacking trans rights has become popular amongst both the conservative and the liberal parties.
