stepee Posted January 30, 2023 Author Share Posted January 30, 2023 Ended up playing this most of the weekend, I think I have two levels and the final boss left. It’s seriously an incredible game and the best 2D platformer since Celeste. I can’t believe how under the radar it still is as it’s just so polished. There is a lot of high level play potential with this so I wouldn’t be surprised if people start streaming it and it picks up some traction. stepee Posted January 31, 2023 Author Share Posted January 31, 2023 Unfortunately I do have one critique, it has level unlock gate keeping as platformers for some reason are want to do these days. There are 5 creatures to save each level, each gives you $10, you need a certain amount of money to unlock each boss level. This hasn’t been a problem as I always had enough just from my first play through of the levels to unlock the boss but then the last world has one less level and a higher $ requirement for the final boss. So now I’m going through and trying to collect enough to play the final boss and I’m not really a fan of this busy work mechanic. I don’t mind it as much because I get to play some more of the great feeling gameplay but I’m definitely not a fan of this sorta thing and the requirement should be lower than it is to unlock a part of the core game. You really have to find almost all of them to have enough money. Also I’m normally not a fan of timers but one of the last levels was different where the entire level had a countdown (and you could extend it by smashing certain items) and it was actually really fun to me and wouldn’t mind seeing them remix some stages like this as dlc. Good recommendation @stepee Yeah they are working on those hitches but they go away quickly and it’s not even every level you notice one.
