Bacon
Never even heard of it unless I forgot. Tho, the only ads I see these days are when I use the reddit app on my phone and they are far to easy to ignore.

It’s purely anecdotal, but it doesn’t seem like Disney put their normal effort into advertising this. I saw more ads for Raya: The Last Dragon during a pandemic where theaters were closed than I did for Strange World.
Reputator
I definitely forgot this movie existed. I'll probably forget again several hours from now.
DarkStar189
I know I showed my kids the trailer for this a while back. None of us thought it looked that great.
TwinIon
I agree that the trailers were not great and that the advertising for this movie was lacking overall. I also don't think the very generic title helped the film at all. It also didn't review super well, so not a lot of word of mouth so far. You joke, but that’s what right wingers are pushing right now because apparently there’s a gay kid in the movie.
ort
Oh yes, this movie bombing was a lead story you know where... that was 100% the narrative they were going with. It was pretty funny how the same article also pointed out that Black Panther... another Disney movie that's surely even "woker" or whatever was the number one movie for the second week in a row. Guest
I’m sure the gay teenager character had some effect, both on the part of Disney’s marketing efforts and in redder parts of the country as a part of their culture war. It is also a really weak flick generally, so I doubt it would have had staying power even if Disney marketed it well because the WOM was not going to be good.
