Fast & Furious 9 trailer - The movies are back, baby!

Recommended Posts

I was really looking forward to this big, dumb movie last year, and its year long delay is when it officially hit me that the world was about to change. It’s been a long ride but the end is so close.

I got strangely emotional watching this realizing I will be fully vaxed by the time this comes out. This is the light at the end of the tunnel, and I am so seeing this at a sold-out screening on opening weekend.

Apparently director Justin Lin will stay for Fast 10 and Fast 11, which will shoot back to back and close out the franchise.

Was gonna say...lol

I've been waiting to get the series complete box set to finish, stopped watching after Fast5 I think. So I can finally set my calendar!

That's what the director has been saying, but yeah, we'll see. :p

Director Justin Lin talks about ending the Fast and Furious franchise with F10 and F11, and why spreading the conclusion over two movies is beneficial

I didn’t realize they announced a Fast 11, but right on. This series works best when Lin is directing. 7 and 8 were fun but they didn’t quite have that same magic as 5 and 6.

Fast Five is easily the best one, and probably the only movie of the franchise that I'd call "good" in the traditional sense of the word, but it tied all of the previous ones together nicely.

The first three are hokey garbage, but in a very lovable way. Also an integral part of my childhood/teen years.

The Fast and the Furious - Point Break with cars

2 Fast 2 Furious - Miami Vice with cars

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift - The Karate Kid with cars

Fast & Furious - ... a kind of weird mess, but Dom and Brian are friends again!

Fast Five - The magnum opus that ties the mess of the last 4 together

Fast & Furious 6 - if it wasn't ridiculous before, this is when it basically starts getting into comic book movie territory, and not entirely for the worse

Furious 7 - The first one since Tokyo Drift that Justin Lin didn't direct, it's kind of forgettable

The Fate of the Furious - I literally don't remember anything about it other than they could have called it "The F8 of the Furious"

Hobbs & Shaw - I watched it on a plane. It's fine. I mean you can put The Rock in anything and it'll be watchable.

I agree that 5 is the best overall film in franchise.. its absurd but not “full send” over the top.

If forced to rate the films from 5 onward i’d say 5, 7, 6, then 8. For me this deep in to the franchise I prioritize the interplay between characters... the handlers keep going bigger and wilder when in reality some people are invested in the characters and not so much the spectacle....6 was fine, I just hate that they bungled the very cool idea of having the whole bad guy crew as an evil version of main characters (they left a lot of stuff on table there)...7 had better overall everything.

LOL - it's so true!

Canada won’t be there yet. Buuut I came up with the genius idea to rent a bunch of muscle cars and go to the drive in. Maybe crack one corona.  Looking forward to it

I just marathoned every F&F movie over a few days, you can also just ask me for cliffs.

To be honest though, it was more enjoyable than I expected. 3 and 4 are the only ones that are kind of ehhh. Maybe 6 as well. But you should watch them in chronological order, meaning watch 3 between 6 and 7. And also you can start the series with Better Luck Tomorrow if you want. Sung Kang unofficially reprises the same character

Oh, as I'm watching Hobbs & Shaw right now, they also throw a nod at The Italian Job. As they're going through Shaw's hideout, they pass by a mini cooper, Shaw says something like "that's for a job I did back in Italy." It's an older mini cooper than what they used in the movie, and Statham's character was named "Handsome Rob" in that movie, so it doesn't really fit. BUT, Charlize Theron was also in that movie. How she could go from being the reluctant thief to a world conquering cyber terrorist over the span of 15 years, who knows, but it's not exactly like the F&Fuckiverse is above ridiculous retconning. It would explain how they met each other. Also the same guy directed The Italian Job and Fate of the Furious.

I'm gonna call it there. The Italian Job is, in my mind, now part of the F&Fuckiverse. So the order to watch the films is:

Better Luck Tomorrow

The Fast and the Furious

2 Fast 2 Furious

The Italian Job

Fast & Furious

Fast Five

Fast & Furious 6

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

Furious 7

The Fate of the Furious

Hobbs & Shaw

Of course, Jason Tobin is in both Better Luck Tomorrow and Tokyo Drift, and in Tokyo Drift he has a British accent. And he's also in high school in both movies. But he's only in like 4 minutes of Tokyo Drift, so whatever. But he apparently will be a central character in F9, so who knows which character he's even reprising.

Someone please help me
