  1. I'd like a Gareth Edwards take where the perspective is from the bad guys organization and Bond is their boogeyman. Almost a teen slasher flick with the protagonists being picked off one-by-one as their plan falls apart, and the desperate attempts by the ringleader to survive long enough to pull off taking over the world.
  2. That's some real shit. I wonder how she'll try to explain this? Also, I find this detail pretty fucked up: Unless it was the victim himself that was a fucked up move. I'm a little disappointed the Times ran the story as he didn't want to be interviewed. The dude probably didn't want to be defined by this (he had no NDA but still didn't speak out), and now it's something he'll never be able to escape. I get they had news, but the lack of apparent concern for the victim is troubling, and could have a chilling effect.
  3. They're both equal in my heart? And I just figure Nick isn't unaware of what the Avengers are doing, so when he sees the snap happening he knows they need every possible hero he can find. I'm also betting we'll find out there was some sort of special agreement made for why she has been gone.
  4. It's a cliffhanger, because of two things: 1. "Sorry Tony, this was the only way" (Strange points out this is a path where the heroes will win) 1. Nick Fury's old school pager (Help is on the way) The chapter has concluded, but the story is continuing.
  5. These games come out too frequently with way too much MMO style progression baked in. The more they investment add into the system the less incentive anyone has to buy a new game and start all over.
  6. One positive thing out of this dude, if he had never been a plagiarist I might have never looked into Dead Cells, which is one of my favorite new games so far this year,
  7. Man, of all the iPhone designs to rip off they go for the worst one. I'll have to cling to my SE until it completely dies at this point. Headphone Jack, TouchID over the face scanning, fits in my pocket, and no dumb notch.
  8. I love a good revenge sploitation flick.
  9. These guys need to just close up shop already. This is embarrassing.
  10. Was hoping someone wold pick up on that. I just wanted to get the thread off the dumb diversity discussion. You're welcome.
  11. You know who would make a cool Blade? Oscar Isaac. Blade's race isn't intrinsic to the character so I don't see an issue with it. Same thing with a black Bond. As long as he is from the UK I have no problems with his skin color. That part that doesn't matter. Ireland is in the UK, so that shouldn't be an issue for Bond either.
  12. There is a difference between jokes and belief statements. Are Gene Wilder and Mel Brooks racists for making Blazing Saddles? Behavior after the fact matters as well. If someone owns up to and fully renounces their former beliefs, then backs it up with actions, I will support their growth. Their politics doesn't matter.
  13. He didn't rape anyone, nor do anything to any little kids. They were just jokes in bad taste. And he stopped and grew up, apologizing years ago for his behavior and promising to improve his behavior, which was followed up by improving his behavior.
  14. Oh! I thought those were condoms filled with razorblades.
  15. Maybe you should read the thread then, where we've been discussing other options besides just picking a black man. And typically this discussions isn't just "pick a black guy" but "pick Idris Elba." Because he's an awesome actor and great fit for the role.
  16. Both? He made jokes. They were terrible, and if he was still making them there wouldn't be any problem with Disney firing him since his actions as an employee reflect on them. But the jokes came before he was a Disney employee. They knew he was when they hired him at that point and didn't care until it became a political issue. In the meantime, he learned to be a better person and how dumb those jokes are, which is something we should applaud. Anytime someone improves as a person we should take them at face value when their actions match their words (and Gunn's do). These are not incongruent positions to hold.
  17. I guess the cast and crew of Friends should never be hired in Hollywood ever again then, either. Social attitudes on what is acceptable change. We have to change with them. If we do we shouldn't be punished for it. If someone was once a racist douchebag but becomes someone else as they grow up we should embrace their personal improvement, not hold their past like an anvil around their neck. Take Robert Byrd, who started out his life as a member of the Ku Klux Klan, got into politics in the 50s and had an personal epiphany in the 80s. When his son died he realized that any man, no matter their skin color, could grieve at the depths that he was and it changed him completely. From that point forward he became a champion of civil rights. When he died a few years ago the NAACP called him a "great friend" and mourned his loss. James Gunn, by all accounts, grew up as a person. He changed his humor, his attitude, and his treatment of others. We shouldn't be punishing him for his past behavior, but recognizing his personal growth. Gunn is an example of what we need so many other people to do in this world.
  18. Lewis Tan can fight, but his acting in Badlands is not great. Daniel Wu is also rough in Badlands, but was better in Tomb Raider. Maybe? But he's American. John Cho is a good actor, but I don't see him with the Bond swagger. Also, South Korean. It's pretty clear the producers want to keep Bond from the UK, which I don't have a problem with. Naveen Andrews or Raza Jeffrey could make good choices if we're trying to widen our discussion outside of "Bond, Black Bond" or another white dude.
  19. I guess his return hasn't gone smoothly: https://www.thewrap.com/talking-dead-loses-female-executive-producer-chris-hardwick-walking-dead/
