Just watch it.

So I absolutely HATED it until about halfway through. Which is when I realized it was meant to be satire lol. After that I was able to laugh a bit and ended up enjoying it. I think my favorite, most subtle touch was that they never put their cell phones down through the whole movie haha. Also, can we get Lee Fucking Pace up to leading man level already. The dude is amazing in literally everything. I want Lee Pace vs Henry Cavill in something.

I don’t remember ever seeing anything quite like this. Both story wise and visually. There’s a lot of “odd” camera shots that almost felt like they were just kinda “fuck it I read about this shot, let’s try it!” But whatever I dug it. Kinda reminded me of watching an early Sam Raimi movie. Definitely don’t look up anything about this, less you know about it the better the experience will be!

Movies BARBARIAN In Theaters August 31
Mercury33 replied to skillzdadirecta's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
Im watching it right now. I can’t say I have ever seen anything like this. Some of the camera shots are so random and crazy. Like a young Sam Rami but more odd? I dunno, I kinda dig it though. And this story is bonkers as fuck. Ok I just finished. WHAT. THE. FUCK. 😂 That shit was wild. Loved it. I feel like if you described the plot to someone they’d laugh in your face. But the performances are so good, the style was so unique and interesting that I was legit bummed when it ended. I can’t remember the last time I was watching a horror movie and wasn’t ready for it to end. -

I really like the presentation of the anthology but i kinda wish it was a bit more? More on the side of Tales and Mortuary Tales vs the more Twilight Zone style they went with. The first story is utterly fantastic. I was bummed when it ended because I wanted to know more. The second story was ok. Not bad but not really memorable in any way.

Found this one deep into a Netflix deep dive. Kind of a cross between a fairy tale and a legend retelling. Story set in the mid 1800’s Basque Country. Blacksmith makes a deal with a Devil then captures the Devil. Then it goes from there. Loved the look and atmosphere. Pretty much everything is a practical effect. Not high budget by any means but it looks great. Think Legend without the vasaline on the lense haha. I love these kinds of rustic horror fairy tales.

I liked it a bit more than Videodrome. The story is a little more coherent and interesting. Plus Michael Ironside 1000x better than James Woods. I enjoyed it, I’m glad that I’ve seen it and that I’ve now seen that gif in its full context lol. Not sure id ever have a desire to see it again though haha.

But I enjoyed what I liked. Fun and silly Halloween time movie. Not scary at all but enough laughs and good performances to make a fun watch this time of year.

I dunno if comparing Isildur who is mentioned and on screen for 30 seconds out 12 hours of film time to the main character of arguably the most culturally popular series of all time is the way to go haha. I mean who cares if a good chunk of people know he’s not actually dead. Hell he dies “off screen” so most people can probably guess he’s not actually dead anyway.

Good premise, great mood, good performances. Finale just didn’t quite feel right. Def worth checking out though.

I didn’t hate it but I feel like it doesn’t do anything. It’s a less interesting, WAY less stylish version of the original. It doesn’t attempt to spin the formula the way Halloween 2018 did.

I tried to get into it when it relaunched. But that TechTV magic is buried about as deep as it can get. Everyone they brought in was just so annoying. We’ll always have the memories of those great mid 2000’s E3s. Sessler, “this is so unprofessional!” And the 24 live Tech help call in show they used to do the day after Christmas.

I liked it. I miss the crazy practical effect body horror from the 80’s. Shits too realistic these days haha. Crazy how relevant the message of this movie still is. I can only imagine the experience watching this when it released haha.

Movies Halloween Ends (Trailer) October 14, 2022
Mercury33 replied to 69los's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
Then why would you watch a Halloween movie, getting less than stellar reviews. That makes no sense.
