  1. thank you. I wound up looking at some tips for this area....and what I discovered leads me back to my statement that the game does lack some help to newcomers. there were so many things i learned that i can do by watching the video (like shift makes you crouch and put you in stealth mode!). i wound up getting that done. now im looking for the druid. also - for other newcomers - just a tip - all those items you pick up that do things - like one-off spells, etc.... this game actually makes them useful. Other games I wind up with an inventory of dozens and dozens of items that I never needed or used...well use em in this game!! they can turn an area that seems impossible to totally manageable. Also - study the environment! this is turn-based so take your time and assess whats going on in the world outside of the enemies right in front of you. theres so much depth and freedom in how you approach situations - as a new comer - expect to potentially spend a few hours in a mission just figuring out your tactics and what items in your inventory can help and when to use them. totally different experience than other hand-holdy RPGs where you can get by only with your main skills and spells.
  2. I'm about 5-6hrs into the actual game (probably spent an 1hr in character creation. Also started with a Dark Urge character and then read its strongly advised to no chose that as a newcomer or a first playthrough, so i rerolled to just a custom character). So far, I'm loving it. I picked a Drow Ranger with the Beastmaster subclass. I have a wolf companion. and this was really cool: I would say that while I love there isn't a ton of handholding, I wish there was a little more to explain the mechanics. As a relative newcomer to CRPGs, its overwhelming and Im really not 100% sure what I'm doing in combat and how the mechanics work. Like I dont get what Cantrips are. What rolling advantage is doing. Some of my weapon skills say "2 turns". Im assuming that means I can use it once every 2 turns?
  3. ok ive really never played a CRPG for more than an hour or 2... but ill bite and give this a go. the few reviews i watched/read really make this seem like something I should love.
  4. it was like $23 on gamepass.. and it was $12 on steam with all the DLC included. also - i got it done. found this handy guide. worked like a charm. The Ascent - How to Copy Xbox Game Pass Save to Steam GAMEPLAY.TIPS Here is how you can copy your save from the Xbox Game Pass to Steam! Guide to Copy Xbox Game Pass Save to Steam Before You Begin In order to follow the steps I had gone through to get your save moved over from Game Pass --- Steam there are a few things I should point out before you go through the
  5. thanks. I picked it up on steam. it was on sale anyway. Do you think I can move my gamepass save file over and use it on steam?
  6. Ive been jumping around playing a bunch of games on my new laptop. Valiant Hearts - Ive always wanted to play this game and so far its pretty great. The music is amazing and I love the story. Battlefield 2042 - huge BF fan and when I originally played BF2042 at launch it Fing sucked. I think maybe i played 1-2hrs.. Well they definitely fixed a bunch of it and it feels and plays a lot better Chivalry 2 - still playing this game even though I absolutely suck at it. I just cannot grasp the gameplay. I get absolutely wrecked and dont know what Im doing wrong. Still a blast. The Ascent - installed in on gamepass - really cool cyberpunk game. I know its leaving gamepass soon. I hope that doesnt mean it wont be playable since Ive installed it Battlebit Remaster - the best BF game out. Disco Elysium - put in about 2-3hrs. weird game.. gotta jump back in bc its weird and interesting. and weird.
  7. cross-posting in here too, but I discovered Battlebit Remastered. Holy shit what a game! Its what all OG Battlefield players have been wanted since BF3. its so damn good and only $15 bux. if anyone is playing, lets squad up!
  8. Battlebit Remastered! This game is amazing. Only 3 people made it and its sold over 2million copies so far. its in the top 10 most concurrent players on steam Its the most Battlefield game Ive played since BF3. Im getting absolutely worked over bc I haven’t played a shooter on KBM since early BF1 launch, but its so much fun. is anyone else playing? would love to squad up.
  9. thanks guys. I have gamepass. installed chivalry 2 and grounded so far. Im pretty sure I have FTL, Papers Please and stanley parable on steam already. Ill def add the others to list. are there any must-have applications I should grab? mostly for laptop health, protection, etc. its been so long I dont know what new stuff has come out. (my desktop is a 980ti and i7-2500k).
  10. so far Im liking my new Alienware M15 R7. I would say my only complaint is its kinda loud, even just surfing the web/watching videos. The fans randomly spin up and then will quiet back down. While gaming, it sounds like a jet engine, but I kinda expected that. The speakers sound good and its loud enough to drown it out. Mostly though Ill probably be using my air pods anyway. I installed Cyberpunk bc it was always said the PC version was far superior to console, and they werent kidding. It looks amazing. There are so many graphical settings, I have NFI what half of them are. I just used the geforce experience to optimize it based on my system and it seems its mostly set to high. Runs buttery smooth. Cant wait for the DLC. I also fired up Disco Elysium and that is one wild game. Im about 2hrs in and its bizarre and captivating. What are some good indie PC games I should play?
  11. whats the best overlay app for watch temps and fps
  12. Im mostly playing the microsoft rewards game. trying to get as many points as possible in a day. im on a 40 day streak and have earned 22,000 points already. if I keep this up, I can probably get the next-gen xbox for free. however, bc of this - it led me to chivalry 2 which is hilarious and fun. although I absolutely suck at it, I keep going back. also - it got me to try out ghost recon wildlands which seems pretty cool.
  13. I need to do this for my wife. she gets 3-4 starbucks a day! and she wonders where her paycheck goes. lmao. I dont know how shes so skinny - she lives on caramel macchiatos, lucky charms and chex mix. thats it.
  14. I got a 2TB WD SN850x drive, 64Gb Ram, laptop cooler and Logitech G502x mouse for my new laptop that hasnt even arrived yet. lol got some additional ring contact sensors for my home alarm system. oh and I got a new garbage pail for the kitchen. wife is super excited about that.
  15. this was my impression of the demo. the combat was the fun, the story was intriguing but the environments felt extremely linear. I was hoping that was just bc it was the opening sequence and it would eventually open up…but I guess not?
  16. wound up jumping on an Alienware m15 r7. has a 3070ti, i7, 16gb ram, 1tb SSD, and a QHD 240hz screen with g-sync. got the laptop out the door with tax and everything for around $995. Ive been out of the loop with PC gaming but that seemed like a killer deal. Ill probably add 32gb ram down the road bc it’s ridiculously cheap right now.
  17. well I just finished the campaign. I hit lvl 50 about 2/3rd through the final act, which was really awesome. overall I really enjoyed the campaign, but I think they couldve shortened the 3/4 mark. maybe combine act IV and V and slim them down, wouldve helped with the pacing. now….I figured since I cruised the game on WT II without much difficulty, I figured I was ready for the Capstone Dungeon. well, holy fuck is that long, hard and tedious. I got to the final boss and I wasnt even close. this tells me that I now have to grind WT II to for a while to find better gear and pump the paragon points, which im not really sure im even feeling that. can you run a group on the capstone dungeon? I def think its do-able if I was in a party.
  18. on a side note - I was looking at the steam deck. the base model has 64mb onboard storage. can an ssd be added? if so, is it even worth getting the more expensive model ? there been some killer deals on gaming laptops recently. I had an alienware with an i7, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd and a 3080ti in my cart. wouldve been around 1550. or very similar spec with a 3070ti for 1100. but a handheld is compelling.
  19. I really think they way they handled imprinting during the campaign is off. you do these dungeons to get the guaranteed aspect added to the codex of power, but then you cant use them because imprinting an item requires 2 of the baleful fragments. well im in act 5, level 47 and have salvaged probably 6-7 legendaries and have yet to get a single baleful fragment. and they dont drop from anything as far as I can tell (at least in world tier II). so I dont see the point of doing those dungeons now. either they should have the baleful fragments drop or unlock those dungeons only after you finish the campaign. and if they do the latter, increase legendary drop rate during the campaign so you can play with different items/builds. i also am playing with some lower level gear just because the imprint is very useful or core to my build. that said, my druid is built pretty damn solid. I can melt elites and have no problem with campaign bosses. the only thing that I find challenging are the strongholds. but elixirs really help for them. at this point, im pretty much beelining through the campaign since its starting to feel long in the tooth. im eager to do some endgame content.
  20. im level 41 and only completed act 1 and 2. lol. isnt there like 6 acts? im probably going to hit level cap way before the end of the game
  21. if you salvage a legendary to get baleful fragment, do you get the aspect too? I just salvaged one at the occultist and all I got was the aspect.
  22. finally beat that stronghold. almost considered dropping down to world tier I to clear it, but i stuck with it and played more defensively and it paid off. but holy crap was that a PITA. unlocked all the boons. did a dungeon, got my first legendary ring. its perk is that it does 40% additional core skill damage based on fortify amount. so I started stacking that. im level 32 now and its starting to click. wound up doing a 2nd stronghold and breezed through it. my build uses a combo of storm strike, pulverize, earthen bulwark, trample and my ultimate is the cataclysm (i think). the storm one. also running creeper as my pet. the tactic is to pop bulwark to fortify. then trample to knock back/stun enemies. then creeper to make them vulnerable. then pulverize for the win. it melts mobs and does a good job on elites and bosses. on my gear im trying to stack attack speed (to generate spirit quicker), vulnerable damage, and close range damage since I usually am right in the middle of it all. I also have some +move speed and now I dont think I can ever go back to not having some on my gear. the game plays so much better when you move faster.
  23. I cannot beat the stronghold to unlock aspects. ive tried now a dozen times. ive tried different builds and it just gets harder as I level up. this is a glaring issue with this game. in previous diablos, you level up, get better gear, more skills then go back to areas where you had trouble and you can wreck them. with the scaling in this game, you never get that sense of feeling overpowered, which is the core of what makes playing these types of games feel good. super frustrating.
