  1. I'm convinced there's a pile of commercial real estate money funding articles like that. They quoted Jessica twice in their tweets, the other one said she felt the warmth of the bodies in the building or some shit. I kind of get it a little, a lot of zoomers probably dreamed of working a nice job in a cool office in high school and college, not realizing that shit fades quick by the third month of sitting in traffic and realizing no one has time to use the ping pong table in the common area. My last office had the bicycle desks, free keurig coffee and snacks, jogging track, waterfall in the lobby, colorful conference rooms with video conferencing suites that probably cost more than my car, semi monthly catered end of day happy hours, and all that other stuff that you do when the overseas VC spigot is wide open. At the end of the day, which is usually later than it should be, it's still work that's too much for one person to do that you have to do with noise cancelling headphones because soft walled cubicles are so 2000s and we need fucking glass everywhere. I'm fine working from home, I can buy my own beer and coffee. Last Fall I switched companies, I was looking for the exit from my last one and every recruiter that was trying to push a hybrid or return to full office position got especially salty when I said I wasn't interested. The funny thing is all those positions were flagged as "Remote" on LinkedIn, so it's likely they had postings without applicants when they marked it as in office.
  2. Exposure is a real crapshoot. I feel like if you haven't caught it yet then you might have some natural resistance. I've been exposed via the brother who lives here, a friend who's gotten it twice, a party I went to a month or so ago where 3 people tested positive later that week, and I'm sure plenty in the world out and about. I've swabbed my nose so damned much it doesn't bother me anymore, not one positive test
  3. With those facial tattoos I find it hard to believe he didn't know his son was a fucked up weirdo.
  4. I figure the Secret Service are pretty good at their job and most would be assassins aren't the brightest of bulbs. So our Presidents are pretty safe. Plots to shoot the little people at a parade, school, or shopping slip under the radar though.
  5. No worries, I got you Only in 8K with HDR and ray tracing This one was actually featured in their UI mockup. Again, imagine the HDR and the ray tracing that this console can bring They also featured Otherside, which I don't think exists yet. It's from the Bored Ape Yacht Club people, so you can expect that level of excellence. All you have to do is take the old people money that your job pays you and pass it through 3 unregulated middlemen (who needs analog laws when code is law?) and then you too can join the crypto revolution.
  6. I'm pretty sure Polium is like 2 idiots who decided to try and fleece bigger idiots. Their render looks like shit and the info they've given is moronic. 4k/8k 120fps with ray tracing in a box about the size of an Apple TV with specs that are TBD. They took a DualShock 4 controller swapped out the face buttons for Nintendo formatted ones, dumped out the touchpad, and merged in grips from the DualSense. As a cherry on top they borrowed the logo of the GameCube and the Apple trademarked TouchID, complete with TouchID logo. If there are more than like 2 people involved I'd be really surprised.
  7. How the Democrats are approaching this today is why the Republicans win as much as they do. They throw meat to their base constantly. Trump instituted his awful travel ban, took money from military base improvements to build his idiotic wall, appointed justices who overturned Roe v Wade. The Senate Republicans are effective at using the filibuster to stop anything meaningful the Democrats send down the pipe. The only Democrats who even signal that they're up for a fight are the progressive ones who don't get a seat at the adult table, because they're the ones who know The West Wing was a fictional TV show. People are worried, they came for abortion and Thomas signaled that they want to come for gay rights and contraception next, they look to the party in power that stands against all of this and out comes the leaders telling people to vote in November and give them $26 before they even try anything. No one can act surprised when the options are one side doing bad things and the other side doing very little causes people to disengage from the process.
  8. It was never true, even in the media they love to consume. Getting shot over a card game is a western story trope, hell even a historic one considering Wild Bill Hickok literally died that way. Hell even the good guys with the guns don't seem to stop much. But hey, we got the Fox News crew coming up with the talking points. I think so far it's mental sickness, woke lecturing, weed, porn, video games, and social media. Not guns.
  9. Mitch McConnell says Americans aren’t working because they are ‘flush’ at the moment WWW.INDEPENDENT.CO.UK ‘What we’ve got to hope is once they run out of money, they’ll start concluding it’s better to work than not to work’ People flush with cash off that stimulus from like 2 years ago. Because Mitch McConnell remembers back when he was a young man, you left home with a dollar, rode a bus, caught the double feature, had a burger and had enough to take the bus back home. These people are living high on the hog with that windfall they got back in like 2020
  10. They will. I remember thinking the millennials, the current generation in their 30s-40 would bring about more tolerance and whatnot. It moved slow, gay acceptance got a bit better, I feel like conversations about single payer healthcare are happening a bit more now than before. But at the same time you get chunks of this generation and the zoomers getting radicalized into bigotry and whatnot thanks to 4chan/8kun and other places.
  11. I feel like this is the kind of stuff that gets Elon Musk all randy. Take something that was fairly efficient but could be better with technology, and make it worse but packaged better.
  12. There is a small chunk of people who seem pretty irate that no one gave a shit about the Hunter Biden laptop story. Even if there was something there having a dementia addled ghoul like Giuliani running point on it killed any credibility. It also didn't help that the opponent of Biden was this crooked old fuck that gave him and his family plenty of taxpayer funded patronage.
  13. The filibuster is pretty anti-democratic, especially the lazy two track system that the Senate currently uses. But I can't imagine how mad you got when McConnell blocked Garland's nomination process and how unforgivable you still find that action, if something Bernie said gets you this irritated
  14. Just trying to hone the skill of "saying something while saying nothing". Also I guess Thomas gets a pass for voting against and being in favor of reversing or putting the brakes expansions of civil rights for marginalized people because he's black and a private person donated a George Floyd statue.
  15. I'm just not sure how they get jurisdiction to make an act committed in another state that's legal in that state something they can prosecute when they go back home. Like I'm pretty sure I can't get busted for possession in Ohio if I smoke weed in Michigan and don't bring any back with me.
  16. Doesn't that bump into Full Faith and Credit? Though I suppose that's up to this Supreme Court to interpret, can't wait to read what Alito and Thomas think about that...
  17. So did all of these people just sort of lie in wait for this shit? I thought we were passed trying to make buttsex illegal again. We just had a couple mass shootings within the span of a week, but we really need law enforcement to have the power to tell you which hole a penis goes in. Not this court, as long as they keep the right leaning pattern they'll maintain 25-30%. Trump had an approval rating floor of around 30%, I feel like Bush level of approval ratings are a thing of the past, a chunk of the country has picked their team.
  18. His whiny old man description over the video is really something
  19. I've already gotten emails from Sherrod Brown's campaign along with the lady running against DeWine for governor. I'm sure in the next hour I'll get a flood of money requests from the DCCC and every left of center PAC because of the fact that every couple years I give a couple bucks to anyone running against Steve Chabot. The Democrats seem incapable of literally doing anything other than raising money on the fact that the Republicans are awful.
  20. Someone came in and shot some people at a bank headquarters in downtown Cincinnati, so the last office I worked in had this cop detailed in the lobby every day wearing like the full vest and tactical pants and shit. They also for whatever reason kept the 80 year old Korean War vet security guard on duty too.
  21. The Democrats have a lot of commercials that write themselves, they just don't do it. "Claims from long dormant relationships..." None of my long dormant relationships have any domestic violence claims, such a weird thing to hold it up with
