  1. I asked Bing AI about the news regarding the AI team Why did microsoft lay off the ai ethics and society team? what are the implications of that decision regarding bing ai? I tried to ask more questions but they've shacked the Bing AI and i couldn't make it get weird

  3. I want to find the business school sociopath who created that line and erase them from history. Every single layoff email I've ever seen from every company I've worked for has had that line or some very near variation. "While the cuts were painful, we are now poised to be nimble/ agile in an increasingly competitive/evolving market". I assume MBAs are handed out with a flash drive that has this template.
  4. I'm not really in favor of banning things based on shaky vague "national security" grounds. Shore up privacy and data handling laws and then come after TikTok from that angle. But laying the first bricks our own Great Firewall isn't something I'm going to cheer on.
  5. Lin Wood was his lawyer, who after he lost a defamation case where his client was called a pedophile by a billionaire he went on to represent Trump in trying to overturn the election and went on weird conspiracy theory rants.
  6. I guess the question is the severity of the derailments. Like how many look like this: Vs not really looking that dramatic.
  7. I saw someone comment elsewhere that she's probably pushing this national divorce thing to do a little SEO so that it comes up and not her actual divorce.
  8. I have a hard time getting how social media thinks they can charge more than streaming services for practically nothing. The only people who get value from paid verification are influences, which social media needs to get everyone else to participate.
  9. That fucking plume.... They're going to bankrupt Norfolk Southern right... right?
  10. Dewine is a career politician that's really cultivated that "aw shucks" sort of image. He was booted from the Senate by Sherrod Brown and returned to just doing state politics. If you're looking for someone to do anything about a large corporation it's not going to be Dewine. After Householder got arrested for accepting bribes from lobbyists for First Energy, Dewine still defended the deal, just not the bribery. He was taking COVID seriously and was kind of a standout with Republican governors, until business leaned on him. Unfortunately for him he can't use folksy bullshit on this disaster, the people of East Palestine and surrounding area don't want Fran's cookie recipes. Also, considering the Republicans haven't capitalized on this yet, I'm betting there's some deregulation that'll end up at fault here.
  11. He brought a gun into the MRI's room and the MRI successfully held its ground and neutralized the threat.
  12. I've been under one non-compete and when I left they made sure to send me a copy of it. I just lied to my next employer and said I wasn't under one, it didn't apply anyway. Every other company has just had non-solicitation agreements, which I've not seen enforced. I know one guy who left and took 5 people with him to his next company, they didn't care.
  13. I didn't realize this existed until... now. I like Petroglyph's work and I'll have to give the demo a look when I get off work and boot up my computer.
  14. I wonder if anyone in Chinese intelligence is getting in trouble over this one. I assume this thing is going to be loaded on the Carter Hall and headed back to shore this evening.
  15. I'm kind of fine with goofy looking mail trucks. The ones they've been using are distinctive, so go ahead and do a new one with a giant forehead and little tiny squished face.
  16. Naming breakfast cereals and singing Disney on Broadway songs are alpha as fuck.
  17. One of the things that haunts me a little still came from early in my career working as a clerk in Anthem's grievances and appeals department. I sent determination letters that the analysts dumped in a folder and once an hour I'd check the incoming appeals voicemail box to summarize and pass off to an analyst for a callback, people (mostly doctors) could initiate a verbal appeal for a claims denial. Sometimes I'd get voicemails from people who weren't doctors, but the patients initiating an appeal themselves for a claims denial. One that would come up once every month or so would be someone older, 50s or 60s, not on Medicare, still on their employer's insurance. They would have a denied claim for a visiting home nurse for recovery from something or another, medical policy said that level of care could be performed by a member of the household and that a nurse was not medically necessary. They would leave an upset and desperate voicemail saying they were single and didn't have anyone to even visit to care for them and needed a nurse to stop in every day. So yeah, an aging population of single people will get rough..
  18. Do HOAs out there mandate the green lawns like they do everywhere else? Because that would probably be a huge source of water use.
  19. Can’t we just stop allowing suburban sprawl subdivisions in the desert?
  20. The problem is the cops seem to see tasers as people remotes and they just lean on those instead of using them as a less lethal gun alternative. I've also never been fond of the "everyone yelling at their target" approach that seems to be a cornerstone of their training.
