  1. Also while developers are going back to the low IQ well to push the generation forward, even pairing it down from last gen, they are doing so along with a real push to bring console gamers to 60fps for most games for the first time in the 3D era.
  2. I think most of this feeling atm is indeed a playstation centric one. And lol yeah you really have to get creative with Switch when thinking of generations especially right now.
  3. It depends on how you split things. I’m happier with gaming now than I ever been do to multiple reasons (the types of games we can have, where tech is, the combining of home and handheld, a strong indie scene, and recently seeing a trend back to the return of the AA) but if I try to stick to console only then idk. Switch is probably my favorite console - is it still the gen of the switch? Then that makes it easier without having to even factor in the other stuff. Switch 2 being delayed is probably the biggest issue right now, and also why the hardware sales are down so much when they would have otherwise seen a boost.
  4. Is the source for this a thought bubble over your head as you took a shower
  5. While it’s going to be dependent on your hardware I can’t think of a single game I would consider the optimal place to play them being a console, let alone “quite a number”. There was a period into last year with too many games skipping the precomp step but that got ironed out mostly by now and most games that had shader comp issues were later patched. I can’t think of anything past like two weeks from launch at most that wasn’t significantly better on pc. The only exception I can think of is Jedi but you still have the traversal stutter there on console and you lose a ridiculous amount of image quality and cut the frame rate in half. Edit: I think too many people see people like Alex going off on stutter on DF and think it’s like this big negative vs consoles. Not realizing that Alex wouldn’t touch the console version of most things because of those same standards. There was a bad period but they mostly got cleaned up near launch with shader comp steps and not many remain in that state. It’s just more frustrating on pc because you are used to better and also because these things SHOULDN'T be a problem there. But I notice stutters just the same even playing Stellar Blade which is being herald as an amazingly well optimized console game (and it is!) but UE gonna still UE. If you had these same stutters on a pc version though, you damn well know Alex wouldn’t call it “perfect”
  6. I know this is console specific so other reasons why gaming is better than ever don’t apply (mobile gaming for what it’s worth is at its best with AA, netflix games, and good gamepad options while we also now have VR gaming and mixed reality gaming, and pc gaming continues to roar foward) but the indie scene alone puts consoles now at least on equal footing as last gen and way ahead of 360era which kicked off the indie scene but didn’t have as many quality releases yet. We lose a lot of genres and types of games I love through the years as they no longer are deemed big money makers, and the indie scene has been vital in keeping those types of games alive. Platformers are my favorite genre and they all but died during the 360 era and really started coming back to where I had frequent new ones to play last gen. I’d say right now both 2D and 3D platformer states have never been better due to indie games. Also Switch is probably my favorite console anyway so idk what this is all about.
  7. I played last night for the first time since it actually came out and I think there might have been a bug in the early access with difficulty. I did much much better. I think maybe it was stuck in normal and not actually going to easy before? I was struggling winning a match at all on very easy in my career mode but last night I did two tournaments and won 16/18 matches.
  8. NBA2K is still like that on pc! It’s the ps4 version currently. I didn’t play Vegas1 but Vegas2 was fine on pc. There were some bad ports still, but you just avoid those games, and play the many games that ran perfectly at 1080p/60. But my general point is that the experience of actually playing games on those consoles was probably the poorest to me of all genz. Though era wise I love the games that came out that gen. edit: You might be just thinking of the first two years or so also as ubi games like the AC series and Far Cry were transformative how upgraded they felt over console.
  9. One thing the 360era had going for it is that console gamers had piss poor standards for iq and performance so they could really push a good generational leap. Myself, it’s when I moved back to pc. Partially because that’s when everything became multi platform but also because my goodness those games were smeary chugging garbage for the most part. If you play an actual ps360 game now that shit is rough.
  10. Solid all the way through though it does get tough! Fucking rad game with VIBEZ.
  11. Batman announcement got me hype to dive back into Meta3 and I saw Star Wars Galaxy Tales or whatever + its expansion for $11 so I picked that up and EP3 of Vader for $3 (it’s an early May the 4th..sigh..sale) and Max Mustard which seems awesssommmmeeeee so far. Pretty hyped to play more of that one. Finally some more good VR platforming. I also picked up The Quiet One on Steam for $2 via GMG sale. Worth it just for the novelty looks horrible.
  12. I just was playing this a little bit the other night and man is it gorgeous on the oled deck
  13. Oh lol I just realized the Netflix app on ios provides an interface to access them all and you can make a “my list” of them in the app and then launch from it. Also one thing that’s nice is you only have to sign into one Netflix game then you just click on the profile in subsequent ones. Also omg check out Cats&Soup
  14. Oh yeah I forgot to mention finding the games. On ios I just do a publisher search on netflix (you can just go to the netflix app in app store and click on the company name) and then they all pull up. I assume android is the same but maybe they have a portal or something there.
  15. I mean, I was pretty clear I consider TTYD one of the best games of all time!
  16. I thought I’d make a thread I can use for when I wanna talk about random mobile stuff since there isn’t enough justification to slow its own thread for mobile games here. I’ve been getting a bit more into Apple Arcade again and also finally have a gamepad attachment that lets me keep the case on so it’s sparked my interest a bit again along with macbook and vision support. Seemed like a good time to check how netflix games had been doing and its expanded further than I realized! It’s at about 100 games now I see on ios. They are all included with your Netflix subscription if you have one. And it’s not all mobile junk either. Besides headliners like the GTA Trilogy remasters (with fixed lighting over the console/pc versions even) there stuff like Dead Cells, Oxenfree 2, Immortality, Spiritfarer, Deaths Door, Tmnt Shredders Revenge, even an exclusive Rainbow 6 game (though not what you are picturing!) If you have a sub and a phone/tablet/tv streaming device it’s definitely worth checking out if there’s some stuff you are interested in for no extra cost. Dont forget you can use gamepads for most mobile games (when it makes sense) these days. Second, I wanted to bring this game to your attention: ‎Go Sanic Goo! MLG APPS.APPLE.COM ‎Gems finally do something , they will help you in your adventure! Now with Sanic RTX and Ame Roes RTX!! the SanicVerse is getting bigger Prepare yourself, more content is coming in the next... Someone actually released a game based on weirdo Sonic memes and it’s kind of amazing. Kind of Sega to not get it kicked out. It’s kind of amazing and while it has ads and in app purchases, it doesn’t matter since you really are just there to play it for 5 minutes while high and be like lol. But it is more payable than you’d think! Third, I’d like to call out Gibbon: Beyond the Trees which is absolutely stunning on apple vision but also really nice on a phone too. It’s auto moving one touch kinda gameplay with a few tricks but actual designed levels, not an endless runner. With some good environmental story telling in the background and swinging through can be quite thrilling when you gain momentum. Definitely check it out if you have Apple Arcade. It’s an older release and kinda buried in there for how good it is. Looking forward to May 7th to hopefully be able to add an ipad pro to my mobile device list and maybe a big Arcade drop like last May.
