  1. If you don't want the government to know where you are, don't get a phone. Your cell phone knows exactly where it is at all times, and US cell phone companies are very willing to sell that data/give it to the government.
  2. I will take your point on Paul Rivett. I think Bernier has a lot of good policy ideas, however he combines them a racist/xenophobic bent that I find personally disgusting. He pretends like he is not a racist, and can speak in such a way as to try and mask it, but he clearly is. Why is Jordan Bitove a pro-racist chud?
  3. His POV, was that you need a certain volume of virus in your lungs to get infected. Asymptomatic people are shedding the virus while talking (and you are breathing it in), and symptomatic people are coughing/sneezing it into the air. Based on what he is seeing, he doesn't think that the virus transmits easily by touching your face. (This is the complete opposite of the general POV 2 months ago.) Again, he felt that local governments in Canada weren't communicating this, because of how it might negatively change behaviour. HOWEVER, it seems somewhat consistent with what the CDC has posted on their website in the US over the last week.
  4. I was talking to my neighbour, a local doctor, who has been involved with treating COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Current thinking is that the original assumptions about how the virus was transmitted were completely wrong. His take was that you don't get the virus from surfaces (which was the original assumption). Based on what he is seeing, he believes that the medical community thinks that people are getting the virus from extended close contact with an infected individual. (i.e. being within 1 metre of an infected individual, without PPE for 15 min+). He claims that in our area, you won't even get a test if you don't have an extended close contact case with an infected person. Unlike other viruses, you don't catch this from touching an infected surface, but rather by being close to an infected person (whether they are showing any symptoms or not). So, heating up the interior of a vehicle won't help...
  5. What I liked about the first TLoU was the characterization, the interaction between Joel and Ellie, and the somewhat "novel" story (for the time). I thought the gameplay was the worst part of the game. To me, it was a less-than-the-best stealth game. What I see in this game, is sadistic violence. While I thought God of War was over the top, and I disliked the gruesome attacks on mythological creatures, I was able to disassociate somewhat from it. In game like Assassin's Creed, the violence is more than I would like, but I am attacking a bunch of non-personified, copy-and-paste faceless drones. What I have seen in TLOU2, feels more like the player is sadistically killing REAL individuals. I have never felt that way while playing a game, and I don't think I want to.
  6. 1) I have never seen any suggestion that Jordan Bitove ever supported Maxime Bernier in any way 2) The only suggestion that Paul Rivett "supported" Maxime Bernier, was that he donated some funds to help pay off the debts from his failed campaign run 14 months later. Serious question -- do you think that if someone is helping pay off the campaign debt of a failed candidate more than a year after the leadership campaign , he is 1) doing a favour to the party, or 2) is supporting the candidate? If you want to support a candidate, do you donate in advance? Or, do you donate more than a year later. If you are sensing some passive-aggressiveness/hostility, then you are right. Because, my take is that you have wrongly accused a couple of guys of being pieces of shit without any basis. I'll happily eat crow if you can show me some evidence of these guys being racist assholes. [If your POV, is that they are Bay Street elite, and that makes them somehow deficient, then you'll have no argument from me. But, that is very different from being a "racist right-wing chud".] FWIW, while I don't know either of these guys from Adam, everything I have read about Jordan Bitove has been VERY positive/complementary. Why do you think Jordan Bitove has done that?
  7. More sarcastic than facetious. He’d just been referred to as a racist right-wing chud, for, as far as I can tell, being a donor for the CPC.
  8. Ontario needs to be more transparent with COVID-19 data, critics say The lack of data coming out in Ontario is astoundingly low.
  9. One of the new owners, Jordan Bitove has been on the board of directors at SickKids since 2012 -- so fuck that guy. They also brought in former Ontario Premiet David Peterson to help as a vice-chair, and have said that they don't intend on changing the editorial direction (or management) of the paper.
  10. Apparently I have to sign up for Crave to get HBOMax. F that.
  11. You would be disappointed by The Star then. They are Centre-Left. They support the Canadian Liberal party (not the NDP) -- note outside of the US "liberal" still maintains the original definition, and is not associated with socialism.
  12. Toronto just released a map by neighbourhood of all COVID-19 cases. The hotspots are NOT in the downtown core, where the subway and the dense condos are. They are in the poor apartment buildings of Rexdale and North Scarborough.
  13. I don't think that is very likely. I don't really see that its in the best interests of either for a larger-scale war. IMHO, ATM they are both trying to not show weakness. I think India has seen that giving concessions to China is a mistake -- China looks at it as a sign of weakness, rather than an attempt at reconciliation
  14. There is unlikely to be outright war between the two beyond minor skirmishes with small amounts of troops. A large scale invasion, IMHO, by China into India is very unlikely, given both have nuclear weapons, and that it would likely result in Western powers getting involved.
  15. I think that both the Republican and Democrat national conventions remain uncancelled.
  16. Apparently the report was written on May 14th, but didn't get passed to the Province until the 24th.
  17. Ford speaks about 'horrific' military report on long-term care conditions during COVID-19 pandemic
