Here's what we know about the bipartisan infrastructure deal WWW.CNN.COM A bipartisan group of 10 senators announced Thursday they have reached a deal on a $1.2 trillion infrastructure package, the most significant development yet in negotiations over a key priority of the Biden administration, but it still faces serious obstacles from skeptics in both parties.

El Salvador makes Bitcoin legal tender

If Bitcoin becomes more valuable, doesn't that negate the financial impact of mining the coins in the first place? If every $1 spent on mining results in $2 in bitcoins they can then sell for $USD, sounds like a good deal for El Salvador. -

It would be politically disastrous to take away the metro area's main water source, compared to cutting off or curbing water usage by other entities. Looking at the map, Las Vegas and its suburbs are the largest metro area that is directly served by the river. There is quite a bit of ground water in the valley though. So as a last resort, the area could start pumping water from down below. Most of the water along the river is being used for irrigation of crops in California and Arizona. I think California is going to have to pony up and install more desalination plants along the coast to manufacture water suitable for irrigation use. My boss was saying that this past memorial day weekend, there was only one operational boat ramp on the lake, as the others had to be closed down because the lake level was so low. Apparently there was a 2 hour traffic jam just get your boat in the water. -

Flash floods are a concern here in Vegas. There is a network of underground tunnels built for that purpose, but most of the time they are occupied by the homeless. -
The ultra wealthy simply don't pay taxes

It was the first link I found on Google - if you can find data that shows different wealth groups paying different amounts in taxes, I'd like to see it. Doesn't the treasury create reports every year with the breakdown in tax revenue? -

These flights go into space, but not into orbit. It's basically a 15 minute ride up and down. If rich people want to waste their money on this stuff, that's fine. Both BO and Virgin Galactic employ hundreds of engineers and technicians who get paid pretty well. -

I agree that the ultra rich could afford to pay more. But this particular tweet is kind of dumb. It talks about how wage earners (I'm assuming they mean middle/lower class) accounted for $143 billion in tax revenue, but something like 50% of all revenue is generated by 10% of the population, which are those people making $150k or more per year. Here is a breakdown for different earners paid in income taxes in 2018.
