  1. It's not "black men". He definitely means "violent homeless junkies" as a permanent social caste regardless of what color you are. You see this shit a lot in California with the "ship the homeless people out to concentration camps in the desert" psychos and it's definitely not about color.
  2. A friend I hung out with last night just texted me that a girl he banged on Friday night is sick but tested negative for COVID. Not really worried since I'm fully vaxxed and the case numbers are super low in LA and the CDC says you don't have to quarantine in this situation as long as you're vaxxed and don't have symptonms, just gonna get tested at the end of the week and make sure I'm negative too. Mostly just glad this guy is responsible enough to reach out to do his own informal contact tracing. Like, I already liked this guy but major mental brownie points for letting me know from what I'm assuming is as soon as he found out, given the timing of when he texted me.
  3. Apparently a lot of people aren't getting vaccinated since they assume they'll have to pay for it since literally nothing else in our healthcare system is legitimately completely free.
  4. Team Flash currently is not aware that there is in fact a new multiverse, they still think it's all just Earth Prime now. So no reason to believe Superman would think there's a new multiverse out there either. I don't know if you've been watching Batwoman but after Crisis last season they had an alt-universe Beth show up and IIRC she was a refugee from one of the other Earths. Supergirl also addressed this with the other Brainiacs who'd managed to bail out of their universes which got destroyed in Crisis to one of the universes which survived and then got merged into Earth Prime. So for all we know John Henry Irons also hopped over to a parallel universe that survived and then got merged into Earth Prime and isn't from the new multiverse, they haven't explicitly said anything either way yet on that point, so the default assumption is Clark thinks JHI is also pre-Crisis leftover. I'm really hoping that the weirdness and confusion so far is just the result of not having time to work in other winks and nods after the Batwoman crossover had to be scrapped and that the Diggle episode gives us some clarity on what exactly they're going with in terms of continuity.
  5. Apparently a Batwoman crossover was cut due to COVID, and something involving Kara was cut for time (it's just Lois grabbing a picture that has Kara when leaving the Daily Planet so it wasn't just not filmed due to COVID). https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/superman-lois-cut-a-scene-with-supergirl-kara-danvers-and-clark-together.html/ What I'm confused about is, why no mention of Argo City? I'd be fine with this show soft-rebooting into its own parallel continuity that picks and chooses what it wants to acknowledge from the Arrowverse, but between that cancelled Batwoman crossover and the fact that we know Diggle is showing up this season I'm honestly just confused about what specifically they're shooting for in terms of overall Arrowverse continuity vs Crisis changes. Whichever one they're going for is fine since it's a good show so far even with basically not having any explicit acknowledgments of the wider Arrowverse so far (even though we know that was not intentional and mostly due to COVID), I'd just like to be clear on which it is. Likewise IIRC pre-Crisis they had just gone off to Argo to have one baby because carrying the baby to term on Earth would have killed Lois, and now they have two teenagers. Another point of confusion about whether it's a Crisis change or a soft continuity reboot. Acknowledging Crisis or not you'd think nothing has changed about whether or not carrying Clark's kid(s) to term on Earth would be safe for Lois.
  6. Biggest breaking suspension of disbelief moment: the idea of the US military using Macs.
  7. I think the core of the problem is conflating mental illness with being violent, and both of those with being homeless. I usually hate the wishy-washy "problematic" labeling but this is a good example of when it's appropriate. You can handwave your way to a reasonable version of what he meant but it's problematic that he went with such a bad framing of it.
  8. New Covid study hints at long-term loss of brain tissue, Dr. Scott Gottlieb warns WWW.CNBC.COM Dr. Scott Gottlieb warned about the potential long-term effects of Covid and pointed to a new study that suggests brain tissue is being destroyed.
  9. In terms of apartment vs house for having a dog, the New York Times had a thing about this like ten years ago. Long story short what matters is the energy level of the dog not the size. People think something like a chihuahua is a good apartment dog because they're small but actually a big dog that just wants to sleep most of the day and may actually not like walking a lot is better for that kind of situation.
  10. How much you wanna bet he stopped eating at Geno's when they took down the Confederate flags.
  11. Hey, it can still get weirder, nobody's done it as Bruce and Selina from Gotham yet.
  12. My company is moving to masks only for the unvaccinated on Monday and making it on the honor system, except in our California office since Cal/OSHA is requiring employers to collect proof of vaccination for employees who want to go without a mask. So I'm fine with it since proof is required. I do have to go to the DC office at the start of August for a week but I think I'll feel a lot better about it after getting six weeks to see whether the CDC jumped the gun on this.
  13. have you tried turning it off and on again
  14. Good. Maybe now they'll act like REAL Americans and get an American Shepherd! #WWG1WGA
  15. Wasn't there some bullshit personality conflict between Feige and whoever the guy at Disney was who was in charge of making the deal with Netflix that drove the shows not really connecting into the MCU beyond a few vague references to stuff like the city getting beaten to shit in Avengers 1? Like Feige wouldn't let the guy do better tie-ins, or the other guy didn't want to because he hated Feige, or something like that?
  16. Rode this bad boy back and forth to work today. Solid tires (rockier ride than air tires but every video I've seen of replacing the tires on an e-scooter makes it look like a nightmare and solid tire scooters are zero maintenance), rated up to 20 mph but my fat butt was only getting like 18, realistic range is like 12 mi based on today but that's enough for my use and it's lighter than the Segway Ninebot ones (they have better range but are also a bit slower, I'd trade some range for faster and lighter). But as I discovered today not light enough to want to carry it all the way into my office every day, carrying it from my apartment door to front door was fine (still important) though so still better than having to drag a Segway one outside, so probably gonna start bringing the U-lock for my bike for that, I don't intend to leave it outside for stuff like going into the gym but the work garage has bike parking so that seems like it should be fine. You can wheel it around by the handlebar while it's folded up but the post is juuuuust to short for it to not be kind of awkward to move it around the way. It does come with a carrying satchel but I feel putting it into the satchel every single day to take it inside the office would get tiresome quickly, it seems like it's more for if you want to drive somewhere with the scooter in the trunk and then scoot around at your destination. Main unexpected bit based on all the shared ones I've used is that the rear foot brake is not as responsive as the other ones I've used. It definitely slows you down when you need to in order to navigate a tricky spot but it doesn't seem like it'll actually get you (at least most of the way) to a stop like the other ones I've used.
