  1. Democrats (as an institution) don't give a fuck about people, they only care about getting re-elected and/or getting money. There are certainly people within the party who care, but not the party itself.
  2. Fantastic development, I hope the other provinces move in the same direction.
  3. My understanding (though limited) is that non-COVID deaths were significantly lower in Canada in 2020/2021 than in normal years. This is claimed to have been taken into account for most of these excess death studies, but it's possible it's not granular enough. The one exception to this is overdose deaths, which are up.
  4. I mentioned it because this is a US-centric forum, and the US already has the highest reported death rate. If you haven't noticed, I trash my own province as much (if not more) than the US here.
  5. As I said, the US is certainly not on the same level as the aforementioned countries in terms of underreporting deaths, but it's certainly been underreporting them. The excess deaths don't match up to the official stats. It's not as bad as some places, but there (at a minimum) hundreds of thousands of deaths not officially counted.
  6. Why would it be the booster shot of choice? I'm not that educated on this particular vaccine.
  7. Definitely great news...but Canada is at like 89% vaccination (of eligible population). I guess it could be useful as a kind of mixed booster in the future? And unless it's approved for kids <12, Pfizer is going to beat them to the punch in the next few weeks. However, I suppose if it's approved in Canada (and Canada doesn't need the pre-ordered amounts), then those doses can be shipped to other nations.
  8. Saw it this aft in a near-empty theatre. Fantastic adaptation. My wife, who hasn't read the book and is only familiar with the basic concepts (sand, worms, spice) loved it. Denis is a treasure.
  9. Liberal and NDP officials mull over a potential deal - Macleans.ca WWW.MACLEANS.CA Stephen Maher: Following a meeting between Singh and Trudeau, officials in both parties have considered a deal to avoid confidence votes for three years Big if true.
  10. More great news. Apparently because the constitution doesn't specifically state that the federal government can regulate the environment, the 10th amendment would give that power to the states? So fucked that a country as powerful as the US is operating off a hand-written document created by slave-holders on the back of a napkin.
  11. Okay so this is the second approval...but not the final approval? How many people need to approve? Does the Senate Parliamentarian need to weigh in?
  12. If I recall, there was a mod that changed the game to have target-locking (like Zelda, etc) so you could play like that. I never installed it, but it looked decent. I agree that the combat itself is the worst part of the game.
  13. No because Frank Herbert had a prescient vision of Star Wars while under the influence of spice melange. He committed a Time Crime and stole the idea from the future.
  14. Jesus Christ. Like, it's not hard to kill someone instantly and without pain. I am against the death penalty on principle (and it's a giant stain on the US for still having it), but you can instantly kill someone in a variety of ways. Hell, just have a shotgun to the side of the brain. Or just knock them out with anesthetics and give them too much morphine!!!
